See What’s Up with the Twins

Jack is hanging out with Katie and Khloe, and they seem to be getting along well. This considerably distresses you.

“No, it’s just me and Khloe, we haven’t got any other siblings,” you hear Katie saying.

“How about you, Jack?” Khloe follows up.

Within a few seconds, you’ve drifted over to their conversation, and Jack shoots you a nasty look.

“Well, of course I have an older sister. She goes here, actually,” he says, as you pull up next to him. His chest is puffed up, as if this is a point of great pride.

“Hey, that’s pretty neat. I wish I had an older sister that went here,” Katie says, shooting Khloe a look.

“You’re only older by a minute, you know?” Khloe grumbles back, and Katie flashes her a wide smile.

“Still counts,” she says, plenty smug.

“What about you, Alex? Got any siblings? How are they doing, where are they at?” Jack says. He might sound genuinely curious, but it’s clear what he’s playing at—odds are, if you’ve got any siblings, they’re not going to be as pedigreed as Jack and his sister at this elite institution, and you’ll look the worse for it. Oh well. It’s time to play with him a little.

“Oh yeah, I’ve got an older sister. And a twin sister, kinda like you two,” you say to the twins. “So I get the whole twin-bond thing. It’s a special club, isn’t it?”

“Very special,” Katie nods, giving you a smile. “You wouldn’t get it, Jack.”

You’ve neglected to mention the… tension between you and Lisa, but more importantly, you also didn’t talk about where they were. Jack’s not a dull boy, and he picks up on it.

“Maybe I don’t,” Jack says with a confident shrug, “but Alex, I thought I’d also asked you how they were doing?”

“They’re doing fine,” you say. “You can check that for yourself, since they’re both here at Stonewall.”

The quip that Jack was about to make dies on his lips, replaced with a tight frown. Katie, on the other hand, is practically bouncing on her heels.

“Oh, oh, what are their names? Maybe I know them,” she says.

“Lisa’s my twin, and Gina’s the older one, she’s a senior,” you say, and you see that it draws a small reaction from Jack. Does he know Lisa?

“Hmm… don’t think I’ve met either of them,” Katie says.

“What about you Jack? What’s your sister called?” Khloe asks. She gives him a sweet little look that you can’t miss, and it suddenly occurs to you that the sympathies of these sisters may not be in total alignment…

“Leona, she’s a junior,” Jack says, and Khloe perks up at the mention of the name.

“Wait, is she the one who has beef with like all the Theta girls? Like the whole nuclear meltdown thing?” she asks.

“Uh… yeah, that’s right,” Jack says, shifting uncomfortably.

“What’s this?” you ask, rather intrigued by this turn of events.

“None of your business,” Jack says defensively, and Katie shrugs helplessly. Oh well. If this is as big of a deal as Khloe made it out to be, you’ll find out eventually.

It’s around this point that the Kale team starts coming out of their locker rooms, ready for the second half. As they take to the field, you follow them on. It’s time to show them who’s boss.
