Scene Five

We see a shot of the garden of the Stephens’ house. Gladys is pulling her husband Abner by the arm, towards the front door.

GLADYS: -I tell you that he’s cheating on her! Darrin told me that Samantha was in Canada, and he sounded very nervous. Then I saw a naked woman through the kitchen window! I’m telling you, Abner: while his wife is away, he is at home with some slut!

ABNER: -And why would he do that, Gladys? His wife is pretty!

Gladys stares at her husband for a few seconds with an angry look on her face.

GLADYS: -Listen to me. We’re not going to sit here and let him do this to Samantha. I want you to go there and talk to him, man to man. Tell him that this is a very ugly thing to do and that Samantha doesn’t deserve it.

Before he can reply, she rings the doorbell.

We then see the Stephen’s living room. Samantha and Darrin are sitting on the sofa, waiting for Endora. When they hear the doorbell, Samantha runs to the kitchen one more time.

DARRIN (walking towards the door): -Who can it be now? Will this never end?

When he opens, we see the Kravitz. Gladys looks furious; Abner just looks tired.

GLADYS: -Darrin Stephens! You should be ashamed of yourself. Come on, Abner, tell him.

ABNER: -Sorry for this, Stephens. I don’t know how to stop her anymore…

DARRIN: -What happens?

GLADYS: -Oh, you know very well what happens. You’re a bad man, Stephens. Samantha loves you and doesn’t deserve this.

DARRIN: -What do you mean?

GLADYS: -I know you have a naked woman in there, Stephens. I’ve seen her!

DARRIN: -What? No! You don’t understand…

GLADYS: -You are going to deny it until the end, aren’t you? Well, I’m not going to let you do this to Samantha! -She quickly passes through the door. Darrin is unable to stop her-. Come out here, you whore! This is a respectable neighborhood. We don’t want your kind ruining marriages around here!

After looking around in the living room, she heads towards the kitchen. Darrin follows her, trying to stop her. Abner follows too, at a slower pace, and looking apathetic.

GLADYS (looking stunned and covering her mouth with her hand): -Goodness me!
