Say yes

Anei nodded, her full lips parting in a semi smile as she stepped towards you and reached forward, a small, harmless looking needle filled with a red substance suddenly appearing in her open hand. She smiled reassuringly as she grasped your arm with her free hand and pushed your sleeve up, exposing your bicep.

"Look into my eyes..." She whispered and you obeyed, staring into her glowing green orbs, letting your mind drift through the infinite depths reflected there. You almost didn't feel the prick of the needle, her hypnotic gaze having taken you on fanciful flights of imagination across alien savannas teeming with exotic life.

"Awaken!" Anei barks sharply and you shake your head, coming roughly back to your senses. You notice the needle is gone now and there is a small bandage on your arm where it entered your skin. Strangely, you do not feel any different. Anei smiles at you again and steps away from you, her form beginning to grow hazy as she leaves you with her final, parting words.

"Go home and sleep for tomorrow you will be changed forever..." Her voice fades into oblivion and you suddenly find yourself in an empty alley, startling a cat that had been dining on the leftovers from a sandwich shop that kept its trash cans in the alley. You shake your head and wonder briefly if it was all just a dream, perhaps an afternoon fantasy you cooked up to pass the time. Oh well, you shrug and yawn, maybe you will go home and take a little nap...
