Savage Land history and info

(Author's note: This is just some info on the world I felt like adding to the story. It's not essential to the story I'm writing, though -- more just world-building I wanted to share.)

Unknown Ruins

Having successfully restored power to the ruins, Lara approached the computer terminal. The terminal was now projecting a holographic image of a woman, dressed as what she assumed was a docent.

"Hello, and welcome to the Stark Technologies information terminal," the computer said in a pleasant voice. "my name is CAKE, the Cognitive Aggregator of Knowledge and Evidence for the Savage Land. What can I do for you today?"

"Tell me all you can about the Savage Land," Lara requested.

"Certainly. While I strive to keep all my information up to date, and have information about the Savage Land as recent as five days ago, please note that my methods of receiving such info has diminished over the years. As a result, there may be gaps in my knowledge, especially of the modern day Savage Land. I apologize for any inconvenience."

"Do you have any idea how the Savage Land was created?"

"Nobody knows for sure. The prevailing belief is that it was created with two purposes in mind; to preserve lifeforms of eras past, and that it was meant as a land of unrivaled beauty."

That would explain why all the women here are drop-dead gorgeous, Lara thought to herself.

"How many people live in the Savage Land?"

"While the exact number of inhabitants is unknown, the Savage Land's estimated population is believed to be between 14,000-16,000 females, and 650-850 males."

"Why are there so few men?"

"That is unknown. The most widely believed theory is that whomever created the Savage Land intended it as a place of beauty, and engineered it to be primarily populated by women."

"Where do men live in the Savage Land, anyway?"

"Men live in the Family-Settlement with the small portion of heterosexual women that live in the Savage Land."

"Family-Settlement?"

"The Family-Settlement is where the breeding and raising of families happens in the Savage Land. Once the females of the family settlements reach the age of 18, they are sent out to join the tribes."

"And what about the men who don't live in the Family-Settlement?"

"They are generally considered to be extremely hostile and violent. Avoiding contact with them is advised."

"Can you tell me anything about the Oracles?"

"Unfortunately, I have no information in my databanks about that. I am sorry, please ask me something else."

"What about the tribes?"

"There are hundreds of tribes in the Savage Land. Once, the tribes of the Savage Land were far more united, but after the defeat of Nathaniel Essex, many tribes became more insular, more concerned with their own survival."

"Nathaniel Essex?"

"Nathaniel Essex, or Sir Sinister as he was known, was a geneticist who mysteriously arrived in the Savage Land 100 years ago. He proceeded to terrorize the Savage Land for the following year, harvesting the inhabitants of the Savage Land for unknown experiments. He was eventually defeated by a group of Savage Land warriors, but the damage to the nation's unity had been done; the tribes had been fractured, and remain so to this day. The Savage Land has become a harsh, unforgiving place since then."

"I see. I have no further questions."

"Stark Technologies thanks you for patronage! We hope to see you again."
