Chapter 4 by Yabusa Yabusa

Who was talking to you?

Safiya, a Jinn of moderate power

Your eyes immediately fixated on this woman who appeared to be floating in midair, seated on nothing at all, lips cocked into a half smile as she squinted at you, scrutinizing you. Even in the poor fluorescent lighting that cast everything in muted blue tones, this airborne woman radiated a warm, reddish energy, almost like she was generating her own light! Her tanned skin, at least the bits you could see exposed at her stomach, arms, face, or around her knees, appeared to shimmer gold when the light hit it just right. Some sort of golden metallic glitter, you wondered?

The girl's feet left their sitting position as her alluring and shapely body extended itself to its full height of just under six feet, toes grazing against the ground--and her reddish-brown hair nearly did the same, the incredibly long and thick hair woven into a massive braid that stopped right at her ankles. The dark gray attire she wore was the strangest part, like a cross between a business suit and a harem outfit, with some mix of conservative and showy all in one. The long-sleeved jacket remained open and unbuttoned, showing a skimpy crop top with golden trim that itself showed generous amounts of cleavage on her ample form. Her stomach was bare, and what looked at first like business slacks seemed to lose opacity the further it traveled down her legs, into semi-transparent and loose fabric that ballooned out at her legs, also occasionally adorned with gold trim and accents. In fact, that was true all over herself--bangles on her wrist and ankles, earrings, necklaces, hair pins, all of it looked like ornate gold decoration. She looked like the librarian at a place that only had copies of One Thousand and One Nights.

All she was missing was... some golden spectacles, maybe? A chill ran over you. Was this the Jinn Emilia had mentioned?

"I truly wish I could understand that woman," the Jinn said, as she stepped closer to you, glancing down at your own business suit clad form. "I've been in her family for decades now, her grandfather and her father had used my talents for their tasks, but not once did she clean my glasses to summon me... don't you find that odd?"

You blinked, not sure how to respond. All of it was odd! "I, uh, guess--"

"Taylor, right?" the Jinn's golden irises turned back to your face, as she crossed her arms. "I heard you talking with she who thinks herself a king in more ways than a name. It seems for the time being, we're stuck together in a sense. I am called Safiya, and you... you are my talisman now. All of you. Emilia didn't just bind my spectacles to you, she basically intertwined your fate with theirs, by my understanding." With a grin, Safiya chuckled a bit. "Though, the idea of crawling in and out of a person is somewhat amusing, I suppose..."

You raised your arms up, getting up to your feet. "Whoa, hey now, no crawling in and out of anywhere!"

You glanced Safiya over from head to toe, and Safiya even went so far as to put her hands on her hips, posing for you. "I suppose my talisman needs to know every little detail about me, huh? So look all you want, since you're bound to me in more ways than one at the moment." She seemed to relish the attention, particularly as your eyes came to rest on those exaggerated hips and plentiful chest trying to burst out of her chosen attire. "Maybe we can come to an arrangement and we just get out of here? I'd rather not discuss all these things in this hideous fortress Emilia brought us to. We can just, you know, forget all about this summoning stuff, go have a nice time, set out on adventure..."

"Adventure? No way, I've got business with Emilia and I'm not going to walk away from that. I mean, unless you could just conjure up everything I need? Do I get three wishes and stuff?"

Safiya sighed, her forehead resting in her palm. It seemed she had pushed a little too hard, too fast, on just leaving her duties behind. "As my talisman, you do not get wishes, no. You can summon and recall me and all that, and you set the rules of my contracts with those who summon me, but I cannot be compelled to grant my talisman wishes. Rather, you're the one who is to compel me to do so for others, that's the arrangement a Jinn has with their talisman or vessel. Or, prison, if you will."

You shrugged, and strolled over to try one of the doors for the small concrete room, finding it locked. "Okay, well, you don't have to fulfill wishes for me, but why not just conjure up a ton of gold or something and then that solves everything, I wouldn't even need to talk with Emilia about anything."

Safiya rubbed the back of her neck, glancing away. "Right, well. There are some Jinn who can accomplish wishes on that level, up to the point where one might consider them miracles. I'm more... on the average side. My magic is potent..." As if to illustrate that point, Safiya struts to the door and taps on it, before a red glow emanates from the keyhole of the lock and the door swings open. "But, conjuration of a room full of gold isn't so simple, and that's meant for the best of the Jinn. If someone made that wish, I would have to locate and acquire gold from a source, and that would be my sole focus until that task is complete. I get results, just... slower."

With a frown, you opened the door further, into the larger warehouse, looking around. "That all just makes it sound like working with Emilia would be easier. According to her, I just need to convince you to go along with one plan, and then I get what I want, I assume you get to go back to your normal, and--"

"No! That means I'm locked in a box again, if Emilia won't actually use me for her wishes. Not interested, friend. Her plan is foolish, I'd rather just go." And with that, Safiya did as she promised--she went. The woman walked halfway across the open and empty warehouse, and you watched her massive braided hair wiggle back and forth, giving you brief glimpses of that ass swaying away. If only you could see that from the front...

Suddenly, Safiya turned around, and began strutting back toward you at the same speed. Her expression of confusion and surprise told you immediately that this was not part of her plan. Her hands reached down to her legs and hips, trying to push against them to stop their motion, but soon she was standing in front of you again, eyes wide at first, before scowling at you. "...You did that, didn't you! My talisman compels me to follow the rules, but it's normally just a brainless object. But you, you thought about something and made me do it! Just had to get another look at my body, huh?"

You blinked in confusion. "N-no, wait, hold on! I didn't realize anything would happen. I just--"

"You thought about my exquisite body roaming around and it came to be. I'm almost certain of it! If you dare try that again, I'll show you what magic I do have at my disposal for my talisman. You may look human now, but I can make you anything! Another person, an animal, a pile of laundry, or I can turn you right back into my glasses! If you really are like my talisman, you may be able to compel my motions, but you cannot compel my magic, and whatever shapes I decide to put you in will be fully my choice."

You crossed your arms and glared back at this woman before you. It was so tempting to just make her do something else, to put that beautiful body on full display for you, to see what she's capable of--and to see if she was only making idle threats. Regardless of what she might do to you, it seemed clear you had the upper hand at the moment, if you really could command her movements with your thoughts. "Why not just go along with the plan and get it over with? This whole thing is bizarre, I don't want to be someone's magic house, but I'll just make you do it all if I have to!"

Safiya relaxed a little, realizing that if she let her temper boil over in that moment that something regrettable might happen and set off a chain of events for the two, which might end in all sorts of disaster for one or both of them. Instead, she shimmies her hips a little, resting a hand on your shoulder as she smiles. "Let's not be hasty here... I don't want to be stuck in some sort of rivalry with my own talisman. We can be allies, friends even. Emilia mentioned you might be able to change my talisman contract, and there might be some way that could benefit us both. Right now, if someone rubs my talisman three times back and forth, I must complete three tasks for them, but it doesn't have to be that way! Just, consider that we could accomplish far more than what Emilia might offer as friends, rather than if we're at each others' throats all the time."

You had some choices to make, and your analytical mind processed all the possibilities. You'd certainly never had a friend like Safiya... but at the same time, you never had a business partner like Emilia. You could betray one for the other, somehow **** Safiya to submit to Emilia, or find a way to leave and gain Safiya's trust. You could merely toy with Safiya until she relents and does whatever you wish. And of course, you could just play both sides, if you're crafty enough--make both of them think they're getting the upper-hand, when really you're the one in charge.

Of course, doing any of that without even knowing what Emilia wanted from you and the Jinn was difficult. Maybe your best option would just be to stall for time, or go find Emilia and talk with her right away, to get more clarity. It frankly would be surprising if she wasn't just watching you right now, testing you to see how you might behave. You had to think carefully about what you wanted in that moment.

Are you going to be Safiya's friend, or her controller?
