SURPRISE!

After finishing a movie, Spencer checked the time. It was about an hour before the surprise party that had been planned, so he then said "You wanna go out for dinner tonight?"

"Again?"

"Why not?"

"Where did you have in mind?"

"It's a surprise."

"Ohh, okay then."

"Do you wanna get ready?"

"Will I have to dress up for this surprise?"

"Eh, not really. Neat casual."

"Okay then."

Once Dani had a shower and got dressed up, she walked back into the living room, where Spencer said "Got one more thing for you?"

"Oh really."

He pulled out a sleeping mask from his pocket.

"So this really is a surprise?"

"Sure is."

With the mask on, Spencer led Dani to the car. Inside, she tried to picture what Spencer had planned for her. When the car stopped, she waited for the door to open. She took Spencer's hand and tried to guess where she was. Her ears couldn't hear the chatter she'd associated with a busy restaurant but were surprised when she heard the ring of a doorbell.

Jim opened the door to his house and stopped himself from speaking when he saw the mask covering Dani's eyes. Spencer followed him towards his games room downstairs, where the majority of her former co-workers were waiting. With an ear-to-ear grin, Spencer removed her blindfold.

"SURPRISE!" Her co-workers shout, watching her face express her attempts to deal with the surprise party.

"Oh my God... guys you didn't."

"We sure did."

"Thank you."

That's when Albert, Dani's former boss, hobbled towards her with a small box in hand. Once in front of her, he said "I apologize is this isn't the greatest speech, as it's not my strong suit, but uhh... Dani, for the last ten years, you've been one of my most efficient and hardest workers around the office. No matter what you were dealing with in your personal life, you always managed to greet your customers and co-workers with a smile. As a token of our appreciation, we all decided to get you something as a going away gift."

Dani opened the box, finding a silver pendant with a ruby stone waiting for her. Her jaw dropped before she gave Albert a hug he wasn't quite ready for. "Thank you so much."

She then showed Spencer the pendant, to which he said "Wow, that is nice. Guess I can't cheap out on the engagement ring."

"I've seen your bank account. You can afford it."

After shared laughter, the two mingle, whilst eating the food from the table. As Spencer ate, he looked around the crowd and tried to figure out who might be able to clue him in on what Danielle might appreciate for Christmas. He was then approached by a middle-aged woman who said "So you're Spencer?"

"Yeah?"

"Debbie."

"Pleasure to meet you."

"So how's it going?"

"Uh good. It's been a good weekend."

"That's great to hear."

"Hey could I ask you something."

"Sure?"

"Uh, I'm a bit stumped for what to get Dani for Christmas, and I was wondering if you had any ideas?"

"She'll be happy with whatever you get her."

"You sure?"

"Spencer, I've never seen her this happy before, and that's saying something, okay?"

"Right."

As the night went on, the stories flowed with the wine. Most of the guest retired early, as they had work in the morning, and by the time it was over, Spencer had to help a rather drunk Danielle to the car. By the time he got home, she'd fallen asleep in the seat, so Spencer carried her to bed, and kissed her on the forehead.
