Chapter 8 by JackKinnoph JackKinnoph

What Should She Do?

Risk the Rocks and Go Forward!

A **** slalom through the newly crafted rock maze quickly went from the least appealing option to the most appealing. The horse couldn’t turn on a dime, but on her feet, Texas would be helpless. She whipped the reins and took off into the dust cloud.

Whether it was chasing a scoundrel or fleeing for her life, she and her steed could do anything. But she was not on her steed, she didn’t know the path, and she could barely see five feet ahead of her. Thankfully though, that meant Roxxie couldn’t see her well either. Or so she thought.

“Left!” The **** cowgirl yanked the reins. The poor horse tried to obey, and they narrowly avoided a large rock. Tex wiped her brow, before crying out. “Right, Right!” Out of the dust appeared a wicked looking rock formation, sharp and spiny. A grim reminder that being gassed or squished weren’t the only things she had to worry about in this perilous terrain.

Worse still, she heard heavy hooves on the rocks above. Whether or not she could see her, Roxxie was following along. But she couldn’t worry about that now. She needed to put all her focus on the treacherous path ahead, pushing this mare to its limit in the process.

A dive there. A skip here. Even threading the needle between two rocks closing on top of them. Sweat on her brow, dust in her face, she finally burst free, out of the dust cloud. A ways ahead of her, she saw the winding path Roxxie had no doubt used to ascend the cliffside. Farther along, there was an overhang, shielding her from any attacks from above. It also was a landmark Tex recognized. It was close to a passage back around and out of Snake Canyon! But with the outlaw on her tail, and the dust no longer protecting her from Roxxie’s cruel eyes, Texas had to think quick.

What Should She Do Next?
