Retribution! A price must be extracted for such heinous actions!

As Macius entered the dark arches of evergreens bent over the pass, a chill seemed to fall down the sheer cliffs. Birds stopped their joyous trilling as ice lines snaked over stone and grass, turning spring to deep winter. In a roar, tons of snow materialised out of thin air on both sides of the path, so high that it connected to the everlasting snowcaps. Contact with the warm stone created a violent thermal reaction, melting snow and frozen rock giving in to gravity in ever stronger, ever faster movement. As the avalanches threatened to crush Macius and Endelion under megatons of ripped landmass, the knight rushed forward, all caution forgotten.

Horse and rider kept ahead of the tumultuous waves of material crashing down the slopes, and it seemed almost as Nature herself was trying to kill them. Macius wasn't one to let the elements get in his way, though. Service of the Lady and the Will of his Lord, and none and nothing could stand before him!

In front of him, pointed ice shards suddenly appeared, lances of frozen water hard and sheer enough to cut a man in two. Macius urged Endelion forward, and the steel bards of their armour broke the ice blades in thousands of fragments that spinned outwards like tiny knives before exploding on the rocky pathway. His blade sheated, his shield slung on his back, Macius hung on for dear life as he trusted Endelion to take them both to safety. As they kept going upwards and upwards, they finally came to an empty area of low shrubbery and large flat rocks. On one side, a huge cliff towered. No snow was visible there. Behind them, crashing noises could still be hard intermittently. The worst might be behind them, but the way was now entirely blocked, and beneath the flat area loomed the vast emptiness of a long drop to the forested valley below. Escape that way was impossible.
