Remi accepts.

Remi looked all around the hallway, as if someone was going to appear out of thin air to mock her for even considering something like this. This wasn't who she was. She was responsible, hardworking. This was much more up Safiya's alley than hers. And yet, this strange woman, pressing herself against the door to her cabin, looking at her with a look in her eye that Remi recognized... it was enchanting. She felt her heart skip a beat, looking into those eyes, and she didn't know why.

"Maybe," Remi murmured, almost inaudible.

"What was that?" Charlotte purred, knowing she had the maid exactly where she wanted her.

"Maybe," Remi said a little louder. "That sounds like it could be nice."

"I'm very nice," Charlotte said, as if reassuring her new friend. "From head to toe. Everybody loves spending time with me. I always make sure that they enjoy themselves. Lots."

Every word out of Charlotte's mouth dropped with a purpose that Remi couldn't ignore. Those words... they were jumbling up her head, making her think different than she ever would otherwise.

Charlotte unlocked the door to her cabin. It was dark inside. She didn't bother turning on the light as she walked past the door, looking over her shoulder at her newest 'catch.'

"Well?" she said. "Are you coming in?" She made it sound delicate, refined, like an actress starring in one of those Fifties movies that Remi's mother loved. In the dark, Remi found herself comparing the sound of Charlotte's voice to Marilyn Monroe's.

"Yes," Remi answered. She closed the door behind her, plunging the room and the two women into total darkness.
