Have a rematch? Have a heart to heart?

Rematch with Ail

Balancing the text to allow both an asshole and a neutral path was hard :(

You decide you have to settle your fight if either of you is to be the chief. Whatever your brother’s intentions are, you want to define who is the strongest. This is a norm in goblin culture you were expecting to skip given how much of a pushover your brother was, you didn’t think he might want to take the leadership from you. You haven’t talked about it, specially not after your fight.

You find your brother talking with Nyla in the partition he used as a room. You were making moves both making moves apparently, he must be convincing her to side with him or asking her about magic techniques. Maybe you are being paranoid. Ail looks at you worried like he’s been since your fight.

“Leave us, Nyla.” You command her, with a firmness you’re not used to using, much less with her. Her eyes go from you to Ail, who nods to her, before she gets up and leaves. He seems to be about to say something when you interrupt him. “I think we have something to settle,” his faces changes to a sad one,“I can’t be the chief with someone that could be stronger lurking next to me. Someone that can someday take control from me.”

“I didn’t think you saw me as competition…” Your brother says with a hint of hurt.

{if First time: Sister = 1}

“I didn’t. Until your stunt I thought you would be my lieutenant, my second in command. You ruined it because of childish jealousy over Phara.” At your accusation Ail looks away embarrassed. “She’s mine now, I wanted her so I took her.” He glared at you with a pathetic mix of emotions, showing just a bit of anger inbetween the hurt. “That’s exactly it! You have more of a reason than ever to attack me like before.”

{else@}

“I didn’t. Until your stunt I thought you would be my lieutenant, my second in command. You ruined it out of nowhere. What for?” Ail looked away, too embarrassed to answer your question. You know the answer, it wasn’t out of nowhere, he was jealous of the moment of closeness you had with your sister. You understand, he must have been afraid to lose her like you’re now of losing the leadership. “This is why we have to settle our fight, to put all the cards on the table. I can’t have you attacking me out of nowhere again.”

{endif}

There’s a moment of awkward silence, your brother’s eyes shake around, he's processing the situation.

"Ok, I guess we have to." With that, Ail gets up. You both walk to the storeroom were you had your last fight, were your mother was kept prisoner first.

How do you handle you decisive fight with Ail?
