Religious Information and Brief History
Fyrona's religion is sort of like Medieval Christianity. The Faith is in the "Divine" a fatherly God that created and watches over the world. The Divine created the world and filled it with his children, the humans. The world was at peace and his children flourished. But as their numbers increased, these children began changing. Some wished for more of their Father's blessings, while others wished for freedom from his sight. Wars began breaking out and the world divided into different countries. The continent of Fyrona was no exception to this.
For several hundred years, the Divine watched in despair as his children drifted farther and farther from him. It finally came to a point that the Divine could stand it no longer. He took the worst of his children and changed them into ghastly beings, monsters of all shapes and sizes. The worst of these monsters became Demons. The Divine locked these abominations in a deep astral plane to keep them separated from his other children, but the prison didn't hold for long. Across the world, magic, born from another astral plane, allowed Humans power that could open gates into the demon's prison. Monsters and demons came into the world and the Divine's blessings were lost to mankind. Some believe that it was also during this time that Elves and Dwarves were born into the world, but both races dispute this with their own religious beliefs.
Fyrona at this time was divided into four countries: The tribal Kites on the eastern shores, where the sailor Brax was already building his community, the central and northern land of Fyrona, the western lands occupied by the kingdom of Gaest, and the southern land ruled by the barbarian warlord Rykes.
Rykes, using dark and forbidden magic, called into being one of the worst demon's, a lust demon named Kalveroth. Kalveroth took over Rykes and became king of the land. He **** and murdered as he pleased. Finally Fyrona gathered its two neighboring countries and assaulted Kalveroth's domain. The demon's greatest enemy was his own son, William. His mother, still pregnant from ****, was smuggled out of Kalveroth's land into Gaest where priests used holy magic to cleanse the unborn child.
William grew quickly and his strength was greater than most men. He, along with Fyrona's king, fought on the front lines against the barbarian horde. William and a small group made their way into Kalveroth's castle while the Kings and Chieftans of the Kingdoms and Tribes continued the battle outside. William and his father fought an epic battle that tore the castle and land under it apart. The castle remains sank into the ground as William and Kalveroth struck each other down. Although the demon couldn't truly die, it could be sealed. William, dying from his wounds, had pinned his father to the ground with his sword. Seven priests surrounded them and cast Kalveroth back into the Void. William died a Hero and Fyrona's king united the nation.
Carthin was built on the site of that battle and the ruined castle is still buried somewhere under it, along with William's grave.
The Divine still watches his children from afar, but has not interfered in their lives since that day. It is his hope that his children will learn from the destruction Kalveroth and other demon's have brought and turn from that path.
