Rejection

Smiling faintly, Bryan shook his head.

“Naw, Vicks, I’ll be fine I guess. I just need to go change out of my uniform.”

Vicki was hard-pressed to conceal her disappointment. “Alright, but I’ll be here if you need to talk,” she responded.

“Thanks, Vicki. I’m glad you’re such a great friend,” Bryan said. With a quick wave he turned and walked into the locker room.

Inside, Vicki was extremely upset. It just wasn’t fair that such a perfect man was wasted on a bitch like Melanie. Vicki had never liked Melanie. They had never gotten along well as children. Now, with Mel being with Bryan, Vicki felt her hatred burning anew. Vicki was about to turn and leave, when she heard the pattering of water coming from within the locker room. Suddenly, her mood brightened significantly.
