Rehersal Dinner

John and Doe talked the whole way to the dinner. Mostly mundane stuff: where they went to school, how they met the bride and groom, where they were working, etc. etc. The conversation shifted when one of John's favorite songs came on the radio.

"I love this song!" Doe shouted.

"Really?!" John asked with surprise in his voice. This is one of my favorite songs.

The conversation continued the whole way to the resturant. Upon arriving, they seating themselves next to each other and continued to talk and get to know one another. They only paused their conversation to order dinner and to answer questions asked of them.

By the end of dinner, they had talked about almost ever aspect of their lives. They talked about their childhoods, favorite movies, favorite books, favorite foods, what kind of activities they liked to do...almost everything.

Slowly, people started to leave to head for their houses or hotel rooms, but they continued to talk. Deeply engrossed in their own conversation.

Doe turned to face John and in a low, sheepish voice said "can I tell you something really personal?"

"Certainly." He replied.

Still speaking in a low and sheepish voice, she said "I really like you. It's weird. I've never felt like this about someone before." She hung her head and stared at the floor.

"I...really like you, too." He said, sheepishly. His cheeks turning red. "I've never felt like this or ever felt for someone so fast, either."

She looked up at him and smiled.

Suddenly, they realized that almost everyone else had left already. Just the bride, groom, and best man remained.

"Do you want to come back to my hotel room with me?" John asked. Then, realizing what it sounded like he was saying, he quickly continued. "I mean, so we can finish this conversation."
