Reassurance

As the day went on, Spencer watched Geoff and Abigail get along with Dani more and more. Still, he could tell that seeing another woman in Kirstin's spot hurt them, and it always would. At times he was reminded of his past, like their first Christmas with Amy where Dani's excitement seemed to equal Kirstin's, or that time during Amy's fifth Christmas when they started playing Monolopy, or their last Christmas together, where Kirstin had a little too much wine and started going into a little too much detail about her gripes of a job she'd just left.

It wasn't long into the night when Dani's **** consumption got to her, making her tired enough for bed. Geoff and Amy soon followed, heading off to their respective rooms. Now alone with Spencer, Abigail said "She seems good Spencer."

"Thanks... I know it must be difficult."

"It is." Abigail confessed as a tear rolled down her face. "God she reminds me so much of my little Kirstin."

Spencer put his arm around Abigail, who finally broke down. Spencer patted her. "You know I'll always love you guys. And no one will ever replace Kirstin."

"I know Spencer..."

Despite predicting that Abigail would end up in such a state, Spencer found it painful to listen to her sobbing. The day had at times served as a cruel reminder of Kirstin's absence, and he had spoken the truth when he said no one will ever replace Kirstin, as much as it hurt to say so.

Once Abigail calmed down, the two decided to go to bed where Spencer looked to his sleeping girlfriend. As much as he missed Kirstin, he had no doubts when it came to Danielle. In the short time they had been dating, she'd been nothing short of amazing. In fact, she'd become the best thing to happen to him since moving to Avonwick.

For once, Spencer woke up before Danielle. He gave her a peck on the forehead, causing her to blink her eyes. "Morning Spencer."

"Morning."

"You're step parents okay?"

"As okay as they can be."

"Yeah... must be hard for them."

Spencer kissed her forehead again. "Hey, they like you Dani. You've got nothing to fear."

"Glad I've got their approval."

"Now I just have to ask my parents."

Dani giggled. "Can't wait to meet them."

"C'mon, how about we get breakfast started?"

"Sure."
