Rachel remembers that night differently

Rachel says, “I remember your reception differently. Maybe you’re misremembering a few details. It was a busy day for you and all.”

“Please tell me how you remember it,” Phoebe says. She stares at me, “I mostly remember the ending in my room, because it was so shocking.”

Oh she remembers the part where there are no witnesses to contradict her. How convenient.

Rachel tells her side, “So it was later in the reception, and my husband came up to me asking a favor. He asked if I could drive Phoebe back to the hotel. I said of course. We started walking out to my car, and we walked past Chandler who was literally bent over in the bushes. I told him he should be done for the night.

“He laid down in my backseat, and you rode in the passenger seat. There was definitely no crass talk about anal, or stretching, or hands groping penises. Just a normal drive with normal talk. We both had to help Chandler walk inside. It probably wasn’t the best idea for two pregnant women to support a drunken man.

“In the elevator Chandler kept mumbling about how Monica couldn’t see him this drunk. I remember Phoebe say, ‘You can sleep on the couch in my room. We have a suite.’

“That really confused me. Why was she inviting another man into her room on her wedding night? Phoebe’s response exactly, ‘I’m seven months pregnant. Joey and I aren’t having sex tonight. It’s okay.’

“I thought it was so freaking strange, but Chandler did go into your room that night,” Rachel finishes.

I say, “Phoebe lied about the first half of the story. Of course she lied about what happened in the room!”

Phoebe let’s out a deep breath, “Okay. You got me. I made up that first part of the story, and the second half isn’t completely accurate.”

“Why don’t you tell us the accurate version then,” Rachel says.

Why bother? She’s just going to lie again to make me look bad.
