Prologue 2 – Inventory

A close friend of the director of the museum has been running an old school Advanced Dungeon & Dragon’s group for decades. Everyone Halloween the group gathers for a special horror module in some unique location, this year it will be the armory’s great hall. They dress up in costumes reflecting their characters and relive the glory years of their college days. “And they call me a geek!” Samantha grumbles to herself.

Her job for the evening is simple; unlock the museum for the role players, stay in the museum while the guests are there, and then lock up when they leave. When Samantha’s boss told his roleplaying friend that she also played D&D, they invited her to join the group for the evening’s game. Figuring she had nothing better to do, and it is always wise to keep your boss happy, she agreed. This meant, however, she had to come up with a costume. Samantha did her best to reflect the 5th level thief character she will be playing. Looking at herself in the mirror again she has to admit the costume isn’t that bad. It does help having friends who are SCA members and theater majors.

Samantha’s costume consists of a . . .

• Cheap gold necklace
• Black vest, buttoned up
• Short sleeve v-neck white Renaissance shirt with ties in the neck
• Dark brown leather pants that have ties running up and down the side
• Knee high soft leather boots
• Black hard leather tied wrist bracers

• Thick leather belt with a pouch and a place to attach a sword scabbard

  Inside her belt pouch she has a . . .

• Small sewing kit
• Digital flash light
• Keys
• Cell phone
• Expensive metal lighter

• 15 one dollar Sacagawea gold coins

  The lighter isn’t Samantha’s, who doesn’t smoke, but her roommate’s who accidently left it in Samantha’s car. The dollar coins are props for the evening, just in case. Her other effects are in her pocketbook which is locked in the office.

  Underneath her left bracers Samantha hides her watch, to keep the medieval fantasy look intact. To add to the outfit she “borrowed” for the evening a real stiletto from the museum, which she has in her right boot. The only other part of her ensemble is her modern glasses, which she cannot do without, and undergarments.

  Her bra is just a simple white one, but considering it is Halloween, and she is playing a rogue, Samantha decided to be a little naughty. Though not one to wear revealing clothing, both out of feminist conviction and a lack of a figure, Samantha does own one thong she likes to wear for good luck; it is dark blue high cut, though a bit stretched out from age and use.

  Looking at her watch she realizes it is close to time for the role players to arrive. Primping her costume one more time Samantha pushes the watch under her bracer and heads out.
