Chapter 8 by Impregmaniac Impregmaniac

How far?

Well... Quite.

"There is a... shall we say understanding between Rebecca and myself," Samuel said, "As we are both ultimately human, and we choose to express our Love in the human manner, that is to say..."

"What Samuel is trying to say, Mr. Mckay, is that when I don my collar, I am completely subservient and affectionate, as any dog would be to it's Master," Ms. Mevan added, "and whatever requests he has, I will do my best to obey as such. Including acts of Fornication."

I blinked dumbly at them and craned my head forwards, as if I hadn't quite understood what she was saying. "Do you mean to tell me that, while you are play-acting as his pet dog, the two of you make love?" They shared a look with each other, before turning back to me and nodding. "Ah. And is this... specific coupling... particularly... significant to you two?"

It appeared as though my question was one that caused great pause, as they sat there silent for a few moments, possibly in contemplative thought. "Hard to say, Sir. It's a fairly common, or maybe even routine, activity for us," Samuel replied, "it is as natural for us to make love in this way as... well, as most others make love, I would suppose."

I fear that more questions arrived instead of answers, but their clock struck loudly. "Oh my goodness is that the time?" Ms. Mevan said, looking at it. "Mr. McKay, I do apologize but I'm afraid I must ask you to leave. I am expecting other guests for dinner and," she looked down at her dusty dress, "I must dress for the occasion."

"Oh. Of course, I understand," I said, taking to my feet. Collecting my things, I said to them, "It was my pleasure to meet you Ms. Mevan. And you as well, Samuel. Thank you for taking the time to speak with me. It was an... interesting interview, to say the least."

"The pleasure was all ours, Mr. Mckay," Samuel said, escorting me to the door. "Should you have any more questions, please feel free to approach me about them. I believe Rebecca has quite a few business related matters she must attend to, and may not have the time to answer. In fact, why don't you join me for a drink at the pub tomorrow evening? Tea and coffee are well and good and all that, but I find a pint or two tends to lubricate the tongue, for more frank speech."

Given that I did not know Madosin's streets or her people, and that I have only spoken with the Headman and a Merchant Princess, it would be remiss if I did not observe her common people, though I would have to check my schedule. "I think I would like that Samuel. Barring any prior engagements or obligations, of course."

"Indeed Sir. Good evening, Mr. McKay," he smiled, offering me his hand to shake.

I do not know how long I stared at it. A Negro had presumed to be of equal standing of me, and had expected me to take his hand. With great difficulty and much reservation, did I finally shake it.

His smile never wavered. "It will take time, Mr. McKay. And I am patient."

What happened in the morning?
