How does Sophia take this blasphemy?

Exactly how Emilia hoped

"Well, I guess I have noticed how attentive she is in his sermons, but I thought she was just the most devout," Sophia says. She moves to dust closer to me so she could whisper. I can feel her hot breath, and decide to press on. I'd wanted to impress her, and it turns out she's quite a gossip. I keep going.

"I honestly have my doubts about her piety. Now, I've only overheard this, so I can't be sure, but I've heard some of the mom's say they've seen her at bars flirting with men. Who knows what else?" Now, this was completely a fabrication, and I felt a little guilty about it, but it's not like the good sister is going to spread the rumor, is she?

Sophia is silent, contemplating. We move on to other tasks, and I worry that I screwed things up. Did I go to far? A half hour passes in near silence and I worry I ruined things. I don't want to break the silence first. I keep cleaning until my dress is visibly dusty and the sun is starting to set.

"I think I'm going to head home. Mom wants me to tutor James tonight, so I have to head to their place," I say. My brother, James just started college and he's never been a great student, unlike myself, so I tutor him pretty often. I'm in college too, but luckily my dream college is in my home town so I get to visit often. If I get over there quick enough, I might be able to get dinner, too.

"Alright, Emi," Sophia says. "And thanks for telling me about Sister Rita. I've noticed her sneaking out in the evenings, and this could be troubling. I will have to keep an eye on her."

I leave, a little confused. Had I stumbled on to something? Weird.

How does tutoring go?
