Ask Danielle if she'd be prepared to wear a diaper too.

In for a penny, in for a pound, decided Halley. If Danielle was actually serious, Halley might as well pitch whatever crazy thoughts she had herself as well. Danielle had already crossed the bridge in this conversation; the worst Halley could do was end up pulling them back to solid ground. Anyway, like Danielle, she could always pitch it as something of a joke.

"The only way you'd ever get me staying here in diapers, for you to gawk at," she **** an ironic smile, "was if you were going to wear one too."

To her surprise, however, Danielle's response was guileless and immediate.

"Yeah, you bet," Halley's friend agreed unreservedly, with an eager nod. "Sounds like fun."

"Same rules, too," Halley frowned, wondering how Danielle could be quite so blase about an idea which, to her, still seemed like some great mountain to assail.

"I'll pee in my pants right now, if you want me to," Danielle shrugged cheerfully, "as long as you don't mind cleaning it up."

She wouldn't mind that badly, actually, Halley realised. Picturing Danielle in such condition, Halley recognised that it was only when it was herself the thought was particularly repulsive or humiliating. With a friend, it was just an unfortunate and forgiveable thing. Which, of course, must be how someone like Danielle would regard Halley's own situation in turn. Perhaps this didn't need to be so bad.
