Yes!

You remove the dumbbell from its resting place and it nearly slams you in your chest. You were not expecting that kind of weight, but you can't look helpless in front of Tori. You stay calm and close your eyes. You concentrate on what's at stake if you don't pull this off. You give your all in one crazy push. In what can only be described as a miracle, you feel yourself lift the dumbbell back up and safely return it to it's starting point. You sit up and towel off the sweat pouring down from your forehead. Despite only doing one rep, Tori actually looks rather impressed.

"Wow! Look at you, Hercules," she jokes.

"Yeah, honestly I didn't realize how heavy that was going to be," you admit.

"Well yeah it's heavy! You put 80lbs on a dumbbell that already had 20lbs on it. That plus the weight of the bar. I mean, that's probably heavier than I am," Tori explains.

You look and sure enough there were already weights on the bar. You don't know how you missed them. You also didn't factor in the weight of the bar but you just keep that to yourself.

Just then you are struck absolutely speechless. Your former bully, Derek, emerges from the locker room and locks eyes with you. You fear the worst as he approaches.

"Didn't expect to see you again so soon," Derek says in a friendly manner that confuses you to no end.

"Oh my goodness, Derek! Already hitting the gym so soon after moving? I would've thought you'd be exhausted just from carrying boxes," Tori replies cheerfully.

"Yeah, well you can't maintain a body like this without rigorous exercise," Derek brags flexing his muscle.

Tori just kind of stands there and basks in the beauty of his figure. She Seems somewhat conflicted by how much she is enjoying looking at him. You decide to step in.

"What the hell is going on?! When did you two meet? Since when is Derek back in town?" You ask.

"We met at the coffee shop, Stag's Cafe, this morning. As for when I got here today is my first full day back after unpacking everything."

"Well alright then," you reply, lost for words.

"Well, Adam, since I just happened to bump into you here, how about you come over sometime for dinner so we can...catch up. You're more than welcome to bring your girlfriend too if you'd like," Derek offers.

"Oh we aren't dating! We're just friends," Tori clarifies.

"I'm so sorry! Well still, I'd love to have you over. The more the merrier."

You agree to exchange numbers with Derek and will text him if you'd like to take him up on his offer. He gives Tori another hungry look then leaves. You and her stay just to talk a bit and then also head out.
