Chapter 9 by Epileum Epileum

Do you leave?

Yes

You decide at that moment that you aren’t gay, and leave. You walk back to your bedroom, it is warm, almost as warm as Dorne. The room is large, with high ceilings and wide doorways. Fit for a king, they say.

You lie down on the Kingsized Featherbed and stare at the tapestries on the wall. Pictured there is the Battle of the Trident, in which your father defeated the Rebel Lord Robert Baratheon.

If Aerys Targaryen, your grandfather and the mad king, had not died when he did, Robert Baratheon would have been executed as a traitor. Though the pair never liked each other, the managed to settle their differences (with the help of Tywin Lannister, who offered his eldest daughter Cersei’s hand in marriage to Robert) and Rhaegar let Robert live. The battle itself shows the two sides clashing, and the Ford they were on running red with their blood. That’s why the Tully’s named it the Crimson Ford.

After a while, you fall asleep. You and Mace had planned to have the wedding in the Great Sept of Baelor as soon as you returned to King’s Landing, and you set off the next day.

King’s Landing
