Um, somewhere?

Tessa felt the van rolling to a stop, much sooner than she’d expected. Weren’t they going to Millie’s house where Barry would... would... Tessa refused to complete the thought.

“Surprised?” Barry drawled, seeing Tes’ expression. “As if I’d go to her house. What if she’s living with relatives or something and they thwart my plans? No, this is better; just about nowhere.”

They were on a remote road that was hardly used but still on the way to Millie‘s house. No one around but the three of them, and no one around to interfere.

“Right! It’s time,” Barry exclaimed, excited to finally put the proud Millie in her place; namely, below him and moaning his name. He passed Tes his phone. “Here, be our camerawoman, then the bargain is complete.”

Tessa took the phone, eyes riveted on Barry as he squeezed his way to the back from the driver’s seat.

Why didn’t he just exit the van from the driver’s seat and make his way to the back from outside? Was he just that excited? Or maybe he was afraid that Tessa would drive away leaving him stranded if he exited the van... yeah, that made sense.

He took Millie by the shoulders, putting her in the middle, and flashed Tes a thumbs up, clearly the cue to start recording.
