Chapter 7 by Manbear Manbear

What's next?

Time to suit up

"Damn that felt good!" you say to the flustered Lady Reilia as you withdraw from the curvy ****. Looking out the window you see fighting on the tower holding up the drake wires over your tower, they should fall soon and that will bring the Riders diving down from their current position. Unfortunately you also hear the solid thud of a battering ram striking the door to your building. Two or three more blows like that and they will be in the stairwell.

"But now we had better think about getting out of here." Standing naked by her side you look over the suits of armor that hang from the weapons rack.

You had planned on wearing the heavy armor of chains and plates, for one thing it is worth almost as much as the chest of gold offered by Lady Relia.

You got it from the family of a dead Rider who was killed in the first wave of attacks from the invading army. If you knew where to look you could see the new rings in the chainmail replacing the ones where a thick shaft had caught the unfortunate Rider in the side just under the right arm. If the same quarrel had hit hit in either the breast plate or the heavy plate that protects the Rider's exposed back, he would still be alive. His family had been **** to sell it and with just about all the other Riders in the city dead or captured you got it for next to nothing. The heavy armor will help even the odds as you fight your way out of the city, but it is uncomfortable and limits your mobility, and it weighs a great deal. The more weight you carry the slower the climb of your drake. It would be a shame to have to leave it, but easy come - easy go.

The other option is the soft leather flying gear, unlike its heavier counterpart it won't stop anything more than a glancing blow but it is a lot lighter and more comfortable. If you agree to take Lady Reilia (or either of the slaves) with you, you really have to wear the light armor.

The final option is to forgo any armor at all and hope the extra fifteen pounds you save is worth it. The other advantage of flying without armor is that there would be almost nothing seperating you from your passenger.

Which suit do you choose?
