Chapter 25
by GreenWanting
What do you do?
Strike out into the forest.
"It's been too long. We have to after them!"
Ally seems unsure but is obviously thinking the same thing.
"Okay, but we are tying a rope between ourselves, you aren't getting separated from me." You nod and you both gear up to set out.
You try to shake the feeling that someone is watching you. The hails on your neck stand on end, your hands find themselves knotting your safety line to Ally. She is kneeling, tying her boots. The sensation of ominous foreboding steals over you. You try to not to show your nervousness as you both step out into the quiet, snow covered scenery. The sweat in your gloves instantly noticed as you begin to trudge in the footsteps of Tasha, Priscilla, and Dana. You note that with everyone out of the cabin, following the exact same path, that this would make for pretty good campfire story, only that you have gotten to the part where "and they were never seen again!" would probably crop up at this point.
The snow is soft underfoot, the silence between the pair of you taught as you move deeper into the dim light of the dense foliage. Ally points to a nearby tree.
"See that? Priscilla cut a notch into the tree, means they certainly made it this far..." she trails off as you walk.
The trees seemingly all have been marked, they look less like a knife cut them and more like claw marks. You swallow nervously, throat dry and tight.
The afternoon sun is distant and you can clearly see a cave outcrop jutting free of the forest ahead. The footsteps lead straight to it.
"Ally, are you getting the feeling that we are walking straight into a trap?" You ask with what you hope is a nuetral voice.
"Yeah, kinda feels that way. Got a better idea Boss?"
Do You?
