how much time goes by

a week of work

after the first week of working for Lilly Leylin realized the work was becoming more routine and he was getting stronger at the same time. Leylin's wounds did not hurt as much as they did a week ago and Leylin could still remember where the sword went right through him and the actions that lead to that moment. Leylin could still remember why he did what he did but that could not justify his actions and the longer he dealt on the matter the more he regretted them. leylin was heading back to the barn to drop off some hay for the animals when he saw Lilly in the doorway calling for him to finish up for lunch. the more time that Leylin spent living at Lillie's house the more Lilly grew on him and the more Leylin c.ouldnt understand his feelings for her.

growing up in the palace Leylin never really never got to relate to anyone his own age on any real personal level everything in his life had been planned from day one. the way he dressed was dictated by agenda and who he got to talk to was determined by political status and when it came to who he married he didn't have any say in that either. growing up as the son of the wise king Arthur Farlier was a huge responsiblity and a huge weight on Leylins shoulders. of course, that didn't mean he didn't care about his wife he tried his best to get along with her they had a couple of good moments but times were trying and her inability to give him a son also brought further stress down upon their relationship. Leylin's daughter Celia did little to bring joy to Leylin for she would never be allowed to rule. Leylin also couldn't find the time to look after or raise his daughter and had that job passed off to servents. looking back on his life Leylin had so many different regrets but he did not know how he could have done things any better. looking at Lilly he knew there was something different non-political about his relationship with her.lilly went back inside and Leylin continued towards the barn

just then a courier rode up and stopped his horse upon seeing Leylin. Leylin approached the courier cautiously as if waiting for him to pull out a knife or a hint of recognition on the man's face. Seeing no hint of hostility Leylin asked the man why he rode all this way out to Lillie's house. the courier spoke with an heir of bad tidings. news had officially reached him that the queen has officially been declared dead. this stunned Leylin who was sure that his wife had gotten out of the city somehow, Leylin told the courier he thought the queen had escaped the city. the courier replied that the queen had indeed escaped the siege and was moving through the countryside by carriage when her entourage was discovered. apparently, someone tipped off the empire of Linced to the queen's escape and direction they were heading and a contingent of mercenaries was waiting on the road for the Queen's arrival. they cornered her guards and slew everyone present. Leylin felt ill and fell to his knees the courier helped him up but explained that he had more houses to get to and wished Leylin well. Leylin thanked the courier and waved him on his way. Leylin was in a daze and started to head back to the house the entire world forgotten.

getting back to the house Lilly chastised him for taking so long and complained that the food was already cold but stopped when she noticed the blank look on Leylins face. she asked him what was wrong and leylin fell apart and blurted out the queen is dead my wife is dead. Lilly had a stunned look on her face and was taken aback and asked what he meant. Leylin Pannicked and realized his mistake but knowing it's too late to change it lied and came up with a story. he explained that his wife was one of the queen's servants and she would surely have been part of the queen's entourage at the time of her ****. Lilly embraced Leylin and held him for a moment and the two of them just stood there like that for a time. after a while, Lilly in a soft voice explained that she knew what loss could be like and that she would be there for him. after another moment Lilly let go and sat Leylin down. Lilly said she would reheat the food and they would sit down and enjoy their meal. Leylin thanked her and they went on with their meal. Lilly asked Leylin why he never told her he was married. Leylin explained that to be one of the queens servants meant that they were supposed to remain chaste so the two of them had to marry in secret. Lilly listened attentively wanting to learn more about the person she knew so little about. Leylin went on to say that Laythe was part of the king's personal gaurd and was there with the king when he fell. Lilly asked what happened to the king so Leylin went on and lied telling her the king went down fighting.....

Leylin excused himself from the table and went outside for some air what happened next.
