Chapter 9 by HistoricoPublius HistoricoPublius

Will you inquire about purchasing a ?

Coblaith, a Pictish woman

One woman catches your eye - a short young woman, dark-haired and brown-eyed. There's a stubborn set to her jaw, and though her hair hangs in ragged, dirty strands around her face, she holds her head high. What catches your eye most immediately, though, is the fact that her bare arms are decorated with elaborate blue tattoos, a tradition you've heard of but never seen. You point her out.

"That woman - where is she from?"

The slaver follows your finger and grins. "Ah! From the farthest reaches of the Empire, sir. She's a Pictish chieftain's daughter, captured in battle when she led her forces against a group of Roman soldiers occupying Brittania!" You suspect this story is at least somewhat exaggerated. "The Pictish savages stain themselves with woad, as you see. It gives them a remarkably fierce appearance. Will you have her, sir? She has come a long way, and so the cost is dear - 50 denarii."

Will you buy her?
