Chapter 3

Who did I speak with?
Misses Susane Loome and Louisa Fraye.
1st of June, 17XX
The seamstress team of Misses Susane Loome and Louisa Fraye had their shop cum home just after the main way of the Madosin commune. I paid call upon them for two reasons. The first is for the reason Mr. Gottlieb had asked of me, and the second is that some rats had managed to inflitrate into the sea chest I had been provided on the ship, and had wreaked havoc upon several of my shirts and coats.
The ladies were charming and affable, and despite my insistance, refused to accept any form of payment for the repairs I asked of them. Ms. Loome, the older of the pair ( One assumes. A Gentleman does not enquire as to the age of a Lady) with hair like Copper, had made mention that I was expected and that if I were to enquire about their services, that my Bill was to be put onto Mr. Gottlieb's account. "Well I must thank him for his generosity the next time I call upon him. And for you to have closed your shop for the afternoon, just so that we could talk." I smiled.
"Oh no please, it's our pleasure!" Ms. Fraye chimed in, setting their tea set down upon the table. Ms. Fraye was a significantly taller woman with black hair and tan skin. "It's just been so long since we've had visitors from the outside. But please do tell us, is Silk still ridiculously expensive?"
I informed that that the world of Fashion and Fabrics are not quite my Forte, but did tell them what I had seen to be the latest styles and trends were currently dominant when I had left. They sat quietly, hands upon their chins and eyebrows furrowed when I finished. "Interesting, interesting. We have some thinking and designing to do, Sue," Ms. Fraye said, nodding to her partner, who nodded back. "Well thank you for that, Mr. McKay. We've been quite starved for inspiration for a while now."
"But now to the matter at hand," Ms. Loome added, the air in the room growing a bit tense."Mr. Gottlieb sent you our way for a reason, and I think I know what the reason is." She cleared her throat and looked directly into my eyes. "Louisa and I are Lovers, and we don't care about any Damnations you may have about us."
Did I have any?
Madosin.
A voyeur's tale.
The journals of Devon Mckay, the only outsider to ever enter and leave the commune of Madosin, have been found. And what stories they hold. Cover image credited to https://pixabay.com/photos/still-life-candle-book-vintage-5347677/
