Chapter 15 by cphi cphi

What's next?

Lipstick and text messages.

By the time Beth got home, around 1:40 AM, the apartment was quiet. The TV was on and its flickering light illuminated a dozed Kyle, slumped over on the couch and softly snoring. She regarded him with a look of fondness and warmth before draping a thin blanket over him and heading upstairs. Brian was passed out in bed, in shorts and the undershirt he probably had worn under his suit. She rolled her eyes a little. His clothes were in a heap by the foot of the bed, so she grabbed them up and took them to the laundry hamper. As she did, she noticed something on the collar of his white work shirt... the unmistakable streak of ruby red lipstick. What the fuck? His clothes reeked of cologne and ladies perfume, probably a result of his schmooze and mingle event. But... lipstick? Try not to overreact. I'm sure it's innocent.
Brian's phone buzzed in his pants pocket. Beth wouldn't normally snoop, but after seeing the lipstick, she decided it was worth an investigation.

???:Finaly mad it to bed. Thnx again for helping me into my taxi, ur sweet

Beth scrolled up.

???: Had a greet time tonite meeting you. This is Laura... my personal #, think we're going to be spending a lot of time working together.
Brian: It was good to get to know you, I look forward to working together on your campaign. You sleep it off now.
Laura: :p okay....
Brian: Hey careful with those, I'm a happily engaged man
Laura: booooo

Beth seethed a little at the exchange. Must be a potential client. 'Laura.' Sounds like a slut to me. She tried to calm down. It was part of Brian's job to charm potential clients, get them to trust his firm to handle their marketing needs. Brian's side of the conversation painted a picture of a man staying professional and courteous, but... She still wanted to crack the cellphone upside his head.{if DennyIntro = 1
