Chapter 5 by AnneOnymous AnneOnymous

Will they stay together? Will they split up? Who will you follow?

[Anne] Something needs to be done about this!

Fine, if Kacie won't come with me, I'll just have to do this myself, Anne thinks to herself as she walks back into her room. Or, she assumed she was thinking that to herself, unaware that you are floating along with her in your current, inexplicably, intangible form. Like with the tall, blonde girl, you find yourself privy to the redhead's inner monologue even without actively trying.

In a haste, she puts on different clothing, discovering that the change into a girl included with it a new wardrobe more fitting to her current figure. She didn't have time to look through it all; she very quickly strips down in front of your spectral view, puts on new, women's underwear—including a bra she seemed to know how to put on—and quickly dons purple shorts and a pinkish t-shirt over them, adding some socks and sneakers to the ensemble before dashing out of the apartment. It would seem that Kacie is still intent on staying in her room, but Anne feels the pressure of being on the clock, and so she hurries on to retrieve the book her roommate had tossed out the window.

Being a girl sure feels... different, she thinks, reminding you that this stunningly attractive woman with beautifully large breasts apparently wasn't one mere moments prior to your coming into her life. But at the same time, she continues, it's like... it also feels natural? Maybe the same thing that is keeping me from remembering my former name also gives me some sort of familiarity with it too. My center of gravity is totally different from before, but it's not like I needed to relearn how to keep my balance. And I immediately knew how to put that bra on like I'd been doing it for years...

As she reaches the first floor and goes out onto the street, she looks for where the book had landed on the sidewalk. But... it wasn't there! In the time it took her to get down to the street-level, it had disappeared!

Shoot! She thinks as she looks about for any clue as to what might have happened to it. Did someone pick it up? Did it get kicked into the sewer? Did it just vanish, which apparently is a plausible option now?

The redhead stands there, scanning the street, trying to decide what she should do next. As she does so, she considers what the Trickster had implied with his curse. She is familiar with these type of gamebooks, and thus she is suspicious that the world around her may not be as normal as it seems. Even the most grounded of those types of books still included endings where "you" fell into acid pools and dissolved away, or were turned into chum to feed sharks in the ocean. And with the addition of magical circumstances, who knows what kind of perils could await? She thinks about endings where "you" are turned into a chipmunk, or frozen as a statue, or warped to a distant planet. Were these all real dangers for the duo now?

She gulps nervously and shivers... and realizes that her nipples are tingling and pushing out against her top. She tries to ignore it, but it gives her a strange, inexplicable, and somewhat embarrassing excitement as she thinks about it.

No, stop it! She scolds herself. I don't care if those adventure books always weirdly turned you on, this is real! Get a hold of yourself!

You feel your cheeks blush—or at least where your non-corporeal body would have cheeks—as you can kind of relate to her embarrassed admission there. And you think you hear a distant, impish giggling at the notion too.

Anne takes a deep breath to calm herself. Maybe she is being paranoid? Despite the magical imp-man giving her and her roommate a spontaneous gender change, maybe this isn't as dangerous as—

CRASH! Anne turns quickly, hearing something in the alleyway. A trashcan had been tipped over, as if something or someone was running away quickly and bumped into it in their hasty escape. But then, at almost the same moment, she catches a glimpse of someone on the other side of the street looking at a small book with a white cover!

The redhead looks back and forth. Should she run down the alley? Or dash across the street at the first chance to see if that person had picked up the book?

You watch intently, unable to deny your curiosity, even thinking to yourself what Anne should do.....

Which way should Anne go?
