Which aisle did Elizabeth find herself in?

Modern

Continuing my wanderlust of the library, a hanging sign had notified me of one of the aisles -"Modern," it said- which made me wonder. Just how old is this library and what is its definition of modern? For all I know, the library could've had been built during the times of Napoleon and defined text and literature then as modern.

Whatever the case, curiosity beckoned me towards the aisle and I had no intention of going against it. Checking the covers of the books, I soon noticed that they were all hardcovers, magnificent and sturdy bindings on each and every one. I also immediately noticed that the shelves had changed from wooden casings to hollow and thin shelves made out of material I'm not quite sure of and in shapes that seemed firm for how liberal they looked.

The floors had also changed as well with white tile instead of the organic and noisily creaking planks. Stopping dead in my tracks, I figured that the library wanted me to stop and choose a book, and lest that it keeps me prisoner for eternity, I adhered to its demands.

What book did Elizabeth choose?
