"Not worried about her right now," Kaila pointed out. "Charlie and I even had the talk on that one if she wanted to hook up with you... but She didn't think that Helen would actually... You know they're on the same cycle, right? They've been living together long enough."

"Don't tell me..." I sighed, my hand coming up to cover my face.

"Yep, worst possible time to be fucking her," Kaila shook her head. "Well, looks like the honeymoon might have been successful."

"I wasn't planning on..." I objected, the flush rising in my throat.

"Brent, Chill out. It's fine. It's... fine." Kaila grasped my hand squeezing it tightly. "Whatever happens, happens. She... she loves you, you know. I really can see it."

"I don't get it at all," I observed blandly.

"You don't have to..." Kaila smiled at me softly. "You're a good man, Brent. I'm not going to deny someone something that I know is hard to find. Especially not somebody who's become a friend."
