Chapter 5 by EchoWrites EchoWrites

First Steps

Think this through

Once back in the apartment I had a moment to think. Naamah warned me that this city was a firmly holy one. So as a fallen angel one of her tasks for me is to build up a sanctum. A place of unholy power that will resist their attempts to uproot our work and “cleanse” us from this city. Spells and totems powered by sin was the easiest way to do it. Lust, being one of the more powerful and deeply emotional sins was like red wine on a white carpet. Obvious, but hellishly difficult to remove. If there was ever a way to let them know we were here to stay, then an occult circle of lust totems was it.

Where would the totems go? If I used the apartment as the nexus it would need multiple anchor points, and in each of them a temple blessed by Naamah. The university would be one point. City Hall another if possible. Central Park was a few blocks away and undoubtedly there was a place there worth corrupting.

Around noon I decided to take a walk to go scout. See what was in the area and to check out the prospective sites for the upcoming rituals. The idea was a good start but I still needed the materials for the summonings and debasements. Sandalwood, cobra venom, and goats blood. Why did the demons have to use such difficult reagents? No matter, surely they could be found. The city was large enough.

Outside of the apartment was the standard fare for this rundown part of the city. To the west there was a cornerstone owned by recent immigrants kitty-corner to the apartment complex, next to that was a run down, and clearly not heavily frequented strip club. East from the apartments there were another three blocks of houses and small stores. The only real things of note there were a pawn shop, and a bus depot that lead to the other, nicer parts of the city. The bus depot is the key to the city.

What's next?
