Chapter 5 by Robopoop Robopoop

Which neighborhood and what world rules do you decide on?

Town of Newcrest, Standard rules + Fill all house lots with random families

You load in the empty town of Newcrest without making any new world rules, feeling like the game requires some testing before you went crazy with the additional features. With a quick code sling, all lots in the zone were filled with random houses, families and community lots. The place now had a large park, a nightclub, a gym and a bar, along with many households of various sizes. Together with visiting NPC townies who wander around neighborhood, it was a near certain guarantee that the place would be very busy at all times of the day.

You place the Taylors in a 30x30 lot containing a two storey blue paneled house. It was a very homey suburban home, decorated with bright colors on the walls and floors, loaded with inexpensive furniture, with most of the basic essentials already available for immediate use. The first floor consisted of a large living room with a three seater couch, two armchairs, a regular sized TV, a coffee table and a simple bookcase, a kitchen near the rear with a fridge, stove, dish washer and various counter tops, a dining room with a square pine table in the center and four simple chairs, and a hallway containing the staircase that led upstairs. The second floor had two bedrooms with beds and dressers for each, and a bathroom with a shower and bathtub separating the rooms at the staircase landing. The outside was mostly bare save for a pathway leading up to the house, a mailbox and a trashcan. It was an ideal home for two. Perfect for a mother and her teenage son to get themselves comfortable in their new lives.

Now that the stage was set, it was time to decide whether you should have direct control of the action, or allow the game's advanced AI to decide the fate of the family. The former would allow you some measure of direction of your own making, which might give the Taylors some sense of ultimate purpose if that is what you wish to experience in the game. The latter has the highest potential to create a more dynamic game with little to no interference on your part, within which you can intervene at any time so should you need to make some changes or place some interesting additions to the family's repetoire.

Which will it be? Direct or AI control?
