Chapter 8 by Duskford Duskford

What happens next for everyone? What will Zack do? What happens to Chloe?

Here Comes a New Challenger

A pair of electric-blue eyes wandered around the party, stopping at every desirable body his gaze could find, and there wasn’t a shortage of those with all the fit, toned figures donning formal clothes and walking past the 18-year-old young man. He had seen a few familiar faces already, but he decided to stick around in his corner sipping from his drink.

He had to admit it was a surprise when an invitation from Fletcher Wynwick arrived in the mail, along with one to his cousin and a third one to the rest of their family. He and Fletcher were strangers at best for the entirety of their high school careers since the Raverses and Wynwicks had some silly rivalry going on for ages; his cousin was the hothead, getting into a feud with the Wynwick scion ever since middle school, but not him, inconsequential stuff such as that rivalry never affected Logan.

Logan Ravers ran a hand through his messy dark brown hair and smirked as his best friend walked toward him.

“You’re late, man,” he said. “For a car lover, you took a really long time.”

“Well, forgive me if a car is useless on making your folks get ready faster,” Charlie Harrington replied with a smirk of his own. He had short black hair and gray eyes. “So, did anything interesting happen so far?”

“Not much, just Heather going to the cove out there with Fletcher Wynwick,” Logan replied with a shrug. “The others are pretty much as expected unless you want to count Chloe McRose and Zack Bishop going out together too.”

Charlie turned to his friend with a surprised expression. “Really? I missed the bet, then, I thought they would get together on Christmas this year.”

“Tough luck, bro, I thought it’d be way earlier,” Logan said.

Charlie’s gaze scanned the ballroom, looking for their classmates. He could see Ashley Woodsen and Brandon Cole squabbling on a table, Rylee Kittle hanging out with a few friends of hers on another one, and then his gaze fell on a third table. “You did notice that table, right?”

“How could I not?” Logan retorted with another shrug.

Sitting by a table were two beautiful green-eyed blonde girls who were classmates of theirs, one was short with a deliciously toned body and the other was taller and slender, and both of them had a nice bubble ass. The former was Logan’s Moby Dick, despite having fucked more than a few girls in the past, there was something about Grace Smith that pressed all his buttons; maybe it was because straight-laced girls like her were unattainable to guys such as him, and traits like the air of innocence she projected, and the intelligence she was known for, were quite a turn-on for him. Unfortunately, all the interactions they had always turned into fights, she was the only one who could get a rise out of him.

“Have you talked to her tonight yet?” Charlie asked, in a subtle teasing tone.

“Will you ask Victoria on a date as you said you would?” Logan fired back, a smirk on his face.

Victoria Walker was the girl sitting with Grace, she was the editor of their school's newspaper, The Busy Bear. She probably was even more of a goody-two-shoes than Grace, and just as smart; the two of them were second cousins, after all. Both girls were breathtaking that night, Grace in a white dress that reached her knees and Victoria wearing a long dark green one.

“I can’t,” Charlie answered. “Not after her parents wrote about my parents in the paper. Dad would kill me if he found out.”

“Well, I’m gonna ask Grace to dance,” Logan said, putting his empty glass on the table.

Charlie laughed. “That I want to see, and a hundred bucks says she turns you down.”

Logan grinned and shook his friend’s hand. “Deal!”

What happens next?
