Two middle aged couples

"I'm so glad we did this," Linda said. She looked to Bill, her husband, and then to their friends James and Vanessa. All of them were in their mid to late 40's. Linda had blonde hair that was just starting to go grey, while Bill's hair and beard had become salt and pepper years ago. Both had let themselves go a bit in recent years, and while not fat, they far from in shape.

James and Vanessa, on the other hand, were still in great shape. James' hair and goatee were still his natural black, and he was very muscular. his darker skin hid most of the signs of aging that had managed to hit him. Vanessa, with her regular trips to the gym and yoga classes, had managed to keep her figure.

It was something of a sore spot for Bill and Linda, but they looked past it for the most part.

"I know," Vanessa said. "We've been looking forward to this all week. Oh! I even found this game we can try."

Vanessa reached under the table and pulled out a box, then set about preparing the game.

"How do we play?" Bill asked.

"It's not too clear, actually," Linda said. "I guess we just roll the dice and move the pieces. There's a screen thing there, so maybe it shows things as we go?"

"Worth a try," James said, leaning over and kissing Vanessa. "If it turns out to not work, we can try something else. No big-"

James was cut off as the front door opened and closed. A moment later, a boy appeared. Ray, James and Vanessa's son. He had just turned 18, and was a few months from graduation and heading off to college. He was tall and muscular like his dad, with a skintone somewhere between his parents.

"Hey mom, dad. Hi Mr. and Mrs. Jones."

"How's it going, Ray?" Bill asked.

"Not too bad."

"What are you up to, son?" James asked.

"Not much. Just gonna head to my room and relax for a bit."

"Get your homework done?" Vanessa asked.

"It'll be done soon."

"Alright. Get to it," James said.

Ray nodded, then disappeared.

"Alright, we're set up," Vanessa said. "Who wants to go first?"
