Chapter 19 by sladewilson sladewilson

How does it go?

First, time to see what's going on in the Baxter Building

Morning light filtered into the Baxter Building's large living room area through partially closed curtains, illuminating the room slowly with the sunrise. Sue Storm was already up, she had herself on a strict sleeping schedule whenever she wasn't called away to be the Invisible Woman. She had just gotten out of the shower and fixed up her long Blonde hair that reached just a few inches past her shoulders. She made sure to straighten it out before heading towards the kitchen a little after six a.m. She wore a basic white bra and panties before slipping on a silk bathrobe of a light blue hue. The robe was short, showing off ample thigh, the thick and powerful limbs carried her to her destination gracefully. Her cleavage was partially in view as well, the generous swell of her breasts making the fabric of the robe rise that much higher.

Her plan was to make breakfast. Herbie could do it okay, but robots couldn't get the subtleties of a homemade breakfast made by Mom. It had been uncharacteristically quiet around here recently, so she figured some nice Motherly cooking would help her family relax even further.

That was until she looked into the living room on the way to the Kitchen.

"Ben, honey. What happened last night?" She calmly nudged the jolly orange rock man awake with an invisible **** bubble.

"Whu, huh?" Ben Grimm started to wake up, wondering why the floor was on the ceiling and the ceiling was on the floor, praying that it wasn't another crazy experiment that Reed was doing. Then he remembered.

"Uh, sorry Sue. I was watching the kids, but Franklin wanted to see if he could get as smart as his sister if he was sleeping upside down, blood rushing to your head and all that. I told him I woulda had more phd's than Reed if that was the case, so he bet me five bucks we could get that many if we did it all night, so..." Ben gestured toward his predicament, his head on the floor as his body was hanging off the unstable molecule couch upside down, with the young Franklin still snoozing away right next to him.

"I figured what's the harm, y'know?" The Thing gave an awkward smile. "And now the kid owes me five bucks since I still don't know what 588 squared is."

"345,744." Sue answered after giggling a bit, her plush lips spread into a sweet smile. "Just try not to wake him up when you get up, okay? He needs his sleep, especially after you two stayed up too late watching cartoons." She turns around, walking off as she readjusts her bathrobe slightly.

"But we didn't... aw crap, Valeria was right. Now I owe her six bucks!" Grimm remarked, resting his face in his palm, before realizing that he had shaving cream on it and splattering it all over his orange mug. "Johnny..."

Sue saw a light on in the lab adjacent to the kitchen. She took a peek inside and saw her daughter Valeria working on something at the desk. There was lots of wiring and other electronics strewn about the table surface as Valeria was tinkering with something under a microscope.

"Did you have a good rest Valeria? I hope you weren't awake all night working again." Sue said, her tone that somewhat concerned but loving tone Mother's get when their children develop habits, even if she was immensely proud of her daughter's work.

"No Mom, I got exactly eight hours of sleep, just what's recommended for a six year old girl." Valeria responded in a dry tone, never looking away from the microscope as she seemed to be working with a motherboard of some kind. "I would hug you, but I made a challenge to Onome to see who can make a smaller time machine out of parts we found outside the labs. I'm using Franklin's Xbox at the moment." Even distracted she sounded extremely mature for her age, enunciating every word she said perfectly as to make herself as clear as possible. It still made it difficult for her to communicate with her older brother at times though, since he didn't understand most words that had more than three syllables.

"Okay, but make sure you can put the Xbox back together afterwards. I'm gonna go fix breakfast honey." Sue stepped forward and softly kissed the top of her daughter's head, ruffling the girl's blonde hair just slightly. "It'll be done in an hour. Love you."

"Of course Mother. Love you too." Valeria said as she continued working, her Mother stepping out of the room.

Sue began setting out the ingredients she'd need. As the mundanity of the task she's done a thousand times before set it on her, her thoughts started to drift. It had been a while since she'd been on a proper adventure. Granted it's only been a week since the Fantastic Four had to save the world, but you can get addicted to the adrenaline of the work, and suddenly vacations become less appealing. She started to hope for a new adventure, something she hasn't really done before. She knew that kind of thinking was dangerous, life always had different ideas of what interesting or adventurous could be. But she still hoped regardless.

She was almost ready to set the eggs before seeing something approach the building just outside the dining room window. It was somewhat dark out still, but the shape gave it away. It was the X-jet.

"Wish granted." She said idly before going to put on her costume.

What happens when they arrive?
