A trap and a portal

Justina hesitantly entered the cave, having trouble seeing in the dark.

"Thgin Noisiv" Justina cast on herself, a low-level spell to see better in the dark

The previously pitch black cave was now as bright as a desert.

Justina walked briskly as her spell would only last for two minutes and she only had enough mana to cast a spell of that admittedly low power twice a day. Due to the timed nature of the spell, Justina had to work fast. The knight quickly walked through the one pathway of the cave, her armor's clanking reverberation off the walls. Justina's eyes darted all around, looking for any track or clue of missing villagers. The only thing Justina did discover was the trip wire that she activated while her eyes were looking up.

A rumbling from behind drew Justina's attention. From the walls, arrows began to shoot out. The storm of arrows shot out from one wall to the other, the line quickly approaching Justina. With no other option, Justina ran forward, as fast as she could. A normal person could outrun it if they sprinted but due to the fifty pounds of armor Justina wore that wasn't an option.

"Retsaf!" Justina yelled as she cast which doubled her speed, allowing her to barely outrun the arrows.

Ahead, Justina could see a purple swirling mass which she guessed to be a portal but to where she was unsure. The knight knew she had two options, either risk facing the arrows and hope her armor was tough enough or take a leap into the portal.
