Chapter 16

Move on
Two Cats No Tail
You can confidently say you and Xharlion have made it a good distance from where you started. You can barely see Ber'Lakk from where you are now. You glance to the right to look at your elven companion. He has his arms crossed and his brow furrowed. You have to wonder if the scowl is a neutral expression for him. Just as you try and come up with something to engage the shorter in conversation, he starts speaking. "A traveling merchant comes."You turn your gaze away from him to squint in the distance. You don't see anything for awhile but then see two blue dots making their way towards you and he. You blink and glance at him.
'How do you know they're merchants? I could barely make out they even existed until a few moments ago.'
He snorts. "That is because you are human."
You frown. You've never heard of an elf that had that great a sight either, and you're used to traveling with elven snipers. You don't say this out loud, though, least you draw his ire.
As the two of you make your way forward, the two specks of blue become clearer and take shape to two elven women: a warrior and an unarmed one. You can make out a large cart but you can't tell who is pulling it. You want to assume that they are related somehow, as they both share the same face shape, hair color, and even a slight similarity in body shape. However, the shorter one has large blue ears sprouting from the top of her head.
When the two women make it to you, the taller of the two grins widely and steps up. You take a good look at her, now that you can see better:
She has a slight muscular form with olive skin, feathered shoulder-length blue hair, and narrow, amber eyes. Adorning her body is silver plated armor. Her breast plate is silver - doing a lot to both protect and emphasize her large bust. The leather gorget around her neck that attaches to her breastplate with golden snaps is a reddish brown. The pauldron on her left arm is silver and made of metal unlike the mostly leather brown one on her right arm. The leather tunic covering her stomach is brown in color, siphoning off into the silver chain mail skirt that covers most of her leather clothed thighs. She has a large, broad sword strapped to her back. <i>"Hail, travelers!"</i> Her voice is surprisingly deep and mature for her stature. You can guess to play her around 5'4.
"H-Hi..." The shorter one says. You're surprised at how deep her voice is as well. You give her the same once over as you gave the other elf. She has a slender form with a narrow waist and slightly flared hips and thick thighs, you could easily compare her to Xharlion's body shape except she's more curvier with thicker thighs. Her hair is long, flowing around her shoulder and trailing down passed her hips, you guess it to be ass-length, possibly longer since its deeply curled. Two large, fluffy, blue ears peak out at the top of her mop of hair. She has olive skin and emerald green eyes with slit pupils – similar to that of a cat. There is an ‘x’ shaped scar under her right eye. She wears a bright yellow tunic that hangs off both of her shoulders. The sleeves of the tunic hang down to cover her arms and hands and down the front of her crotch, covering her black, tight, leather pants. She wears leather boots that stop mid-calf. Oddly enough, the left sleeve of her tunic looks empty.
"I'm L'Arce and this lil' thing is my son, Litiny!" She says in introduction. You do a double-take and stare at the shorter of the two. This...is a male?
"Son?" Xharlion echoes your thoughts out loud. You and he share a look and he actually raises an eyebrow at you before turning his gaze to the elven woman who has pursed her lips.
"Yeah....son..." Her voice tightens. She stretches before placing a hand on the hilt of her sword. "We don't have issues with that, do we?"Xharlion doesn't miss a beat.
"No...just didn't expect to meet another out here so close to...Ber'Lakk." That seems to have calmed her down, but the statement confuses you. Another elf? That didn't make sense.
"Ah...well...Yeah."Her voice has soften as she gazes at Xharlion. "At any rate, we're traveling merchants."She makes a flourishing motion with her arm at the cart. Now that you get a closer look, the cart doesn't even have wheels. How was it moving?
"We deal in magical items: tomes, scrolls, accessories, et cetera, et cetera!" L'Arce grins. "I'm sure you'll take a liking to those, kitten." Xharlion bristles as the nickname and glares. L'Arce turns to look at you. "How about you, kid?” Her grin widens. ”I got a ton of weapons that'll be useful to a Warrior like you! Take a look! Tell me whatcha want!" She turns back to Xharlion who had already moved to the cart side to view their wares. "All the magic shit in there was written by Litiny himself. He may not seem like much, but when it comes to all that magic mumbojumbo, he's your cat."
Talk, Buy, or Leave?
The Paved Road To Nowhere

You're hired to accompany a mage. You thought it'd be all good and easy until you actually meet the person. Slaying beasts seems like a cup of tea, now.
