How does Sagus' watch go?
Like this
After the girls all went into their tents, Sagus sat on a log in front of the fire. As he moved the sticks and dry leaves around with his sword, his mind flooded with questions. What happened to Marianne? She was willing to go into battle with Arakarin and any creature he threw at them. What could've scared her that badly? What was that thing he saw moving? He cursed himself silently for not pursuing it. If he had, he could've...
No, it was too late now. He only hoped it wouldn't trouble them again.
"Sagus?"
"Marianne. You should be resting."
"No, i'm alright. Would it be ok if i sat with you?"
He knew he should tell her to rest and gather her strength, but something told him that an ear and a shoulder would do her more good than sleep right now.
"If you want to."
"Thank you." She sat next to him on the log.
"Marianne, what happened?"
"Hm?"
"What made you scream like that? I've heard you scream before, but never with such....deep terror. What happened to you?"
Marianne looked away. If she told him, maybe he could help her. She had said before she'd do anything to end these visions, these specters that appeared to her. But to tell him, she would have to reveal her secret. Sensing this hesitation, Sagus put his hand on her shoulder and came closer. She gasped at being pulled from her inner dilemma, but recovered quickly and looked at Sagus. Even though his eyes were covered by his blessed blindfold, she knew it was concealing genuine worry. She sighed.
"I....Sagus, sometimes i...i see things that her voice wavered normal people normal voice again don't see. Things i wish didn't exist, or at least that i wish i didn't know about. Scary, terrible things."
"....souls?" She gasped again.
"
How did you kn...i mean, why did you guess that?"
"I've heard that it's common for the masters of the dead to see souls." Her eyes grew wide.
"Then...you know about me?"
"Yes. I have since the first time i saw you. This blindfold shows me the truth, remember? Something as important as that can't help but show up to me."
"If you knew that, why did you let me come with you?"
He looked over at her, but only by moving his eyes. He faced the moon still.
"Because i could also see other things about you. I can see your soul."
"My soul?"
"Yes. It's white with just a few flecks of orange. Hesitant innocence, i've heard it called."
