Attempted Escape (Rewritten by PotLMCM)

Brittany looks at her mother and tells her "Actually I was just about to run to the store to pick up a few things."

"What do you need at the store?" Kelly asks slightly curious and slightly suspicious.

"I just need to get some personal stuff and, maybe a new movie to watch." Brittany replies in a manner that she hopes won't tip her Mom off to the fact that she is lying. Of course she really does need some things from the store but, the only reason she is going now is to avoid the dilemma she is facing. If she were to stay she would either have to help with the tiles or face the temptation in her room. At least going to the store will postpone the problem for a while and, possibly give her time to think it through.

"Alright well you can pick me up a few things while your out. I'll write you a list real quick." Kelly tells her while still wondering if Brittany is just trying to get out of tiling the kitchen.

Brittany heads over to the front door to put her shoes on. Then she stands there waiting for her mother to finish with the list of things she needs Brittany to pick up. A few seconds later her mom comes around the corner with a sheet of paper in her hand. Handing it to Brittany she smiles and says "Here is some money for the stuff on my list and, I had better get my change back. Don't go spending all my money on yourself." Giving Brittany a hug she says on last thing "Drive safe ok?"

"Yeah Mom I will." Brittany calls over her shoulder as she walks out the door towards the family van. She gripes to herself as she walks about how her parents had sent her car with one of her two older brothers (who are twins) when he'd gone back to school. Climbing into the driver’s seat of the old van she pauses to look at the list her mother gave her. A loud sigh escapes Brittany's lips as she realizes how long it will take to get all of the things on her Mom's list.

She will have to go to several different stores in order to find everything and she isn't sure where to begin.
