Chapter 11 by Acorn142 Acorn142

What does he do?

Let Duncan deal with the concubines

“Don’t make me regret this, brother,” says Stewart, reluctantly. “I’ll let you figure out a solution to the concubine problem, but for the love of all that is wonderful, please don’t let it develop into some big orgy.”

Duncan looks so shocked that it almost diguises his look of absolute delight. “Really? Is that what you think of me, that I’m going to get horizontal with a bunch of old chicks who have been siding up to Father? What do you take me for?”

Stewart looks at his brother with a level gaze. “Who is it who was responsible for us getting MacTavish assigned as our tutor? I’m not the one who kept making advances on all the older women who were supposed to be teaching us.”

“In my defense, they all came on to me,” says Duncan, holding up his hands in protest. “Especially Miss O’Keefe — she practically **** me!”

Stewart rolled his eyes. “Please! Old Lady O’Keefe was in a wheelchair. She didn’t even have teeth!”

“Yes she did. She just didn’t like wearing them — particularly when she was blowing —“

Stewart cuts his brother off. “Never mind the details. What I want to know is whether you can behave yourself and take on this task for me. It would be a big help not to have one more thing to deal with right now.”

Duncan’s face brightens. “You can count on me, Your Majesty!” He gives a deep bow accompanied with a flourish of his hand. “I’ll see to the old gals straight away. And while I’m at it, I’d be happy to take on the burden of interviewing and screening potential candidates to fill the vacancies in the harem. Just trying to be a blessing, you know....”

“You’re too kind,” says Stewart, drily. “We’ll address whether this practice will continue at a later date.”

“Well, in that case, is it too early to address whether the Crown Prince should get his own harem? You do want me to start acting more kingly, right?”

“I don’t think you’re exactly hurting in the romance department, Brother-of-mine. Now get out of here before you give me more reasons to regret my decision.”

Duncan is at the door in a second. “I’ll let you know the moment I have it taken care of!” The door closes behind him almost before his words are complete.

Stewart looks at the door and sighs. He hopes he made the right choice, and begins bracing himself for the report that will come back.

Although the king has to wait for Duncan’s report, you do not. Do you want to watch Duncan’s handling of the matter, or wait, like Stewart, for the report of the outcome?

Which do you choose?
