Chapter 127 by brevdravis brevdravis

Prepping for a walk.

Dressing for the Fog

It looked like it was going to be another foggy day at least. No hints on the weather app as to the rain. I dressed fairly rapidly, occasionally shooting a quiet smile over to Helen when I caught her looking my way in the bedroom. It was nice, almost an appraising look.

"So... I guess I have a boyfriend now." Helen remarked, grabbing her beret out of a corner.

"I guess so." I nodded.

"Fuuuuck. You know I'm going to lose my lesbian gold star over this." Helen sighed, brushing her hair back from her forehead.

"You have awards?" I chuckled. "Damn, looks like I was right to pack my hiking boots. Shoulda worn them yesterday."

"Well, of course!" Helen remarked. "But hey, I'm not going to correct a guy who is going with aesthetics instead of practicality."

"I still feel really crappy about that bet now." I remarked, pulling the laces on each boot tightly.

"Don't be. If I didn't want it, I wouldn't have made the bet." Helen laughed. "And Charlotte got even with us last night, so you know, damage done."

"That was... you were amazing last night." I stated, pulling an old leather jacket out of the bottom of my suitcase. I almost never wore the thing, but it felt right for the chill, especially with the sheepskin lining.

"You're not... oh lord, you are not doing the ultra white guy thing." Helen groaned, as she turned around. She hadn't dressed for the weather, I noticed.

"Ok, fine, you wear it then." I pulled the jacket from my shoulder and tossed it to her.

"Woah... Ok, not what I intended you to do, I just thought you'd wear a hoodie or something." Helen giggled. "But hey thanks, I was going to ask Kaila, but this... this is cool."

"Oh, for YOU it's cool, but for me it's ultra white guy?" I groaned. There was also a wool sweater I liked a lot, and I was glad that I'd packed it. I pulled it on, letting the shawl necked item settle. It was kinda itchy, but hey, it looked good.

"You know, don't know why... but that really works for you." Helen nodded, zipping the old bomber jacket up about halfway. "Whaddya think? And remember, if you ask me to try on any more items after this I will introduce you to something sharp and metal."

Well, that seems pretty unambiguous.
