Well, I couldn't do it from here.

"I... I love you. I love that you told him no." Kaila continued, reminding me of that conversation. "I just... she takes advantage of you. You know that."

"I can't abandon her." I nodded. What Imogene usually wanted me to do was ride to the rescue, like I always did. Which would mean leaving Kaila here, getting in the van, driving an hour or so to Monterey, paying fines, being Imogene's shoulder to cry on after whatever had happened, and then probably letting her sleep on our couch again.

"You're not going to pay it, are you? Honey, we can't afford it." Kaila's tone shifted, and she seemed less angry, but now at least didn't seem angry at me for wanting to help my sister.

"Well, crap... wrangling over finances was not how I wanted to spend my honeymoon." I sighed.

"Oh can we just go back to bed... I want to go back to bed... " Kaila tried another tactic, one that she knew worked wonders on me.

"What have we got in the account?" I asked. I didn't do the finances. Kaila did the finances. I tended to just take paltry check the Army sent me and hand her the vast majority of it. My paychecks from work on the other hand, that went for things like this honeymoon.

"Hey, if you need, we can chip in a little." Helen remarked, coming behind Kaila to give her a soft hug. "I mean, not that much but, this is important, right?"

"No. No, it's not important, it's just Brent can't get over his blue lagoon fantasies." Kaila shook her head, relaxing into Helen's embrace.

"ONCE. I said it ONCE. " I quickly interjected, remembering that drunken night when I had blurted that I thought that Imogene would look hot pregnant. The topic had come up, and I have no memory of how it had happened. I admit, it was still a hot image, and I'd never admit to my wife that It turned me on as much as it did.

"Oh ah KNEW it!" Charlotte laughed. "Brent an' Imogene... sittin' inna tree..."

"Oh come on babe, now you're pulling grade school?" Helen crossed the room quickly, silencing Charlotte's childish game with a solid, stifling kiss which Charlotte happily returned, still murmuring the rhyme into Helen's mouth. "K..uhh...uss...uss... uh... mnnnn... guhhh..."

"We... how much cash do you have left?" Kaila asked, her tone thoughtful.

"A couple hundred." I had brought enough to pay for a nice meal out at some point, another grocery restock and gas.

"Ok... ok, if we..." Kaila pulled her phone from the pocket of her bathrobe and began tapping. "Ooh, Wifi's on. Thanks Charlotte."

"MMMHMMM!" Charlotte answered, or at least it sounded like an answer. She was still kissing Helen.

"Yeah, If we float the gas bill for one month, same with the electric and water.... ugh... I hate thinking about this with my girls distracting me..." Kaila continued to tap, but her gaze kept drifting to where Helen was beginning to kiss down Charlotte's neck.

"Your girls? Oh, so what are we a clique now? " Helen panted out before ducking her head back down and nipping at Charlotte's collar bone.

"Not much easier here." I nodded, wanting to drag my gaze back to the two women on the hide a bed.

"Ok, so... shit, still about a hundred short. Can you tell her to walk or take the damn bus?" Kaila licked her lips, her eyes locked on where Helen had begun lapping at Charlotte's erect and succulent nipple.

"Can I just, put the cash in the account?" I asked stupidly.

"Yes, that would work, but it would require you leaving the cabin. And getting gas. And milk and bread." Kaila's eyes drifted back to Helen after addressing me. "And maybe taking one of the girls."

"Awwww..." the twin sounds of Helen and Charlotte's voice sounded rehearsed, almost like something out of a gum commercial or a really bad comedy.

"Brent can go by himself." Charlotte laughed, "I want to play with my sweetie."

"No, he really can't. He needs somebody to keep him honest. Imogene will text him halfway there with something she supposedly forgot, and Brent will believe her because he's an idiot when it comes to his sister."

The worst part of all was I knew Kaila was usually right. Of course she hadn't seen the times I'd said no to Imogene, because she stopped coming along with me on my rescues a few months ago. Much as I wanted to take somebody with me, I almost felt like I had to go myself, just to show Kaila that I could.
