Bandits

The bandits who had terrorized the village of Tarintha were not ordinary ones. They were organized, persistent and their tactics were unusual, to say the very least. And their attacks seemed more aimed at drawing troops away from a smoldering border conflict on the far side of the Kingdom of Worlekin than in actually gaining profit. The King's advisors believe the bandits are an irregular **** being used by a neighboring kingdom. They do not wish to start a war, but have determined that when talks begin to diffuse the present tensions, the absence of troops from the shared border will put them in a better negotiating position.

Therefore, the king has decided to recruit forces to deal with these 'bandits'. Before you set off, the young men who have gathered discuss who should be the leader of their war party. As one, they select you.

"It is simple, John of the tribe of Doe. You are a bold warrior, and the finest hunter among us. With your courage and craftiness leading us, we will be undefeatable." Somewhat embarrassed by this praise, you nonetheless accept the mantle of leadership.

Your first stop in your travels to Tarintha is to stop at the village of Nilreb, a village on the border between the North Lands and the Kingdom of Worlekin proper. It is here that traders from the Kingdom make their final preparations before heading in the north, or warehouse the goods they have bartered.

And it is here that your war party is joined by others who go to fight the bandits attacking Tarintha.
