Chapter 3 by hemelwijs hemelwijs

What kind of hero do I make?

Anisha, the arcane rogue

Deciding what kind of build to make was always something I had trouble with. I often vary between either a rogue or a caster. Seeing as how I recently got the blood of the succubi perk, I was tempted to go for a mage class. But once again, my love for stealth and being in places I was not supposed to be reared its head.

For several long minutes, I stared indecisive at the creation screen. finally, I made up my mind and went for a combination of both. Selecting the three skills I wanted, and the blood of the succubi perk, I pressed the confirm button and awaited what came next.

Character creation complete

You have selected the following:

Race: Human

Class: None

Starting skills: Light armour, magic bindings, Short bladed weapons.

Starting perk: Blood of the succubi.

Your skills made you an arcane rogue, this has been set as your starting class, and the class is now unlocked at character creation.

The following items have been placed in your inventory: One short sword. One set of light leather armour. One set of ten throwing knives.

The following spell is added to your spellbook: Magical restrains.

This completes character creation, the game will resume once you close this window.

That turned out better then I thought. A new class right from the start. I'm not really sure if taking the magical restraining skill so early was smart, but too late for second guesses. I closed the screen and prepared myself for this adventure.

The armour I got was just your standard leather armour, nothing fancy, but it covered the vital parts, and it fitted snugly over my curvaceous body. The sword was simple and very basic, the kind you get at any weapons shop in a starting area. the same was true for the throwing daggers.

Equipping each item in its respective slot I made my way to the crypt-like building that housed the entrance to the dungeon. I placed my hand on the large ring at the centre of the door and pushed hard to open it. The door swung open on silent hinges and a wide, grey, stairway descended in front of me into the darkness.

Again a window appeared in front of me. This time the golden colour of the main quest.

Ascent to my bold undertakings.

Even the greatest journeys began with one small step. So to, must you take your first step in overcoming the dangers of the unknown.

Primary objective:

Reach floor ten and prove to the unknown makers of this dungeon that you have at least the basic skills to survive. Reward: Unlocks the rest of the dungeon to explore at will.

Secondary objectives:

Reach the end of floor one without taking any damage. Reward: One gold

Use at least four different skills. Reward: One skill level in any learned skill.

Reach floor ten with full health and full energy. Reward: 10 AP

Accepting the quest, I started to walk down the stairs. The heavy door closed behind me with a loud clang, and vanished, leaving the hard rock in its place. For better or worse, I was stuck inside. The only way I was going to ever leave this place is when I win, or when I lose.

Further down the stairs, a torch ignited on both sides of the tunnel, while the two at the top sputtered, and died. The message was clear, the only way to go now, is down.

Floor one
