You ignore her

You ignore Rachel, shes not important. Who is important is the veteran, Morgath. He is the one that will decide if you are ready to be a full ranger. He might even be the one who picks who goes on the caravan mission next week. The only thing that matters to you is what he thinks. You turn your eyes to Morgath and say,

"I'm ready to go sir!"
He nods and hands you a short sword and a dagger.

"Here son, take these for now. Later on we can figure out what kind of weapons you prefer." He turns to the gaurd at the gate and signals for her to open the gate. She does and as it slowly slides open you feel a thrill of both excitment and fear as you see the forest.
Morgath starts walking and you follow with Rachel silently taking up the rear.

"So heres the plan David," says Morgath, "We'll follow the path till it meets up with the trade route and with the forest. The path and the route are both cut into the forest so we won`t actually have to go trekking through the trees. We might not even go all the way up to the trade route depending on how bad the activity is. When we get into the forest you are gunna do exactly as I say when I say it got it? No hero bullshit."

You hear Rachel snort at that but don`t really understand why. Morgath seems to ignore it though so you do to.
