What does Nicholas see from his window?
A surprise in Dana's room
Nicholas couldn’t believe he had eaten fast food, and that his father had ordered it for him. This day can’t get much better, he said, thinking of his sexy neighbor.
He rolled up to the window and used his binoculars to look across. A bedside lamp dimly lit the room, but it was clear no one was present. There was a large sheet of paper up against the window, with writing on it. In a female’s handwriting, it read: “Like what you see, pervert?” Nicholas was horrified. He put the binoculars down and put his head in his hands. Oh, God. I’ve been caught. I am so dead. His mind raced. So she caught me . . . so what? Well, she could tell my parents and I’ll be killed. Nicholas began sweating. No, don’t let this happen to me! He wheeled himself around in a circle in his room. Crippled people can’t exactly pace back and forth, so they wheel themselves back and forth.
Fuck, fuck, fuck, he repeated to himself. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes. Okay, let’s think logically. He used his binoculars to read the message again. Pervert? Well, there’s no denying that, Nicholas thought, indicting himself. Wait, if she wanted to out me, why wouldn’t she just tell somebody? Nicholas thought of the possibilities. That sign must have been up for a while, so she hasn’t told anybody yet. And why not? Nicholas re-read the message. “She’s toying with me” he laughed to himself.
What does Nicholas do?
