A shaky start.

At Jenna's words, you and the other 16 contestants huddle up together in your two groups of eight. Being so close to a group of women on the beach isn't the worst experience in the world, but considering how antsy you are about this first of what'll probably be gradually worse challenges, you're starting to wonder if maybe you're in over your head. Looking around, some of the girls' expressions tell you you're not alone in feeling that way, but at least a couple people in your group have their heads in the game.

"Alright, let's do this quick," one girl says. She's about average height, with brown skin and, around a black tankini, slightly visible tan-lines where she would normally be wearing a shirt and shorts. Her thick, brunette hair is pulled back into a ponytail, and she seems fit, if not all that athletic. "If we get a good start, we can make up for anyone slow in the second half. Who here is good at running?" she asks, raising her own hand. Only two other people follow suit; one being short, freckled, ginger girl with noticeable muscles and one hell of a farmer's tan around her red bikini top and white-with-red-spots bottoms. The other girl does so reluctantly, a tall, dour looking Asian girl with broad shoulders, short black hair, and tattoos visible both on her shoulder under a black bikini top and on her hip under matching side-tie bottoms. When she fails to get a fourth response, the girl sighs, and points to the lanky girl with dirty-blond hair, a green floral-pattern bikini and a placid expression who had been spacing out next to you. "You, you're on the starting line with us three," the girl says, "the rest of you, take your positions on the far line." As your two groups split apart, the lineup having apparently been decided for you, you hear Jenna name your four, more athletic teammates: "Gabriella (the assertive brunette), Lucy (the short athletic ginger), Kim (the intimidating one with the tattoos), and Delilah (the lanky, spacey one)."

This left you, starting to have second thoughts, the shy and muttering Maggie, and two other girls, one of whom seemed to have no real issues with the upcoming challenge.

"This is gonna go great!" she said, with a pep in her step and an accompanying wobble across her body. A tanned, black haired girl in a bright pink bikini that may have been a bit snug on her, she had a noticeable amount of weight on her, but still had far more energy than any of the rest of you seemed to. "I'm so glad I made it on the show," she says with a slight squeal as you make it to the midway point of the race, "My name's Maria, and I know you're Maggie," she says, pointing to the quiet girl, before pointing to you, "and you're...."

"Sam."

"Right! And then, I don't think I heard from you....?"

"Sarah," your last teammate says simply, her arms crossed as she stares down towards the finish line, the opposing team's second string only just making their way over. She's about your own height, with clear, dark skin and shoulder length braided hair. She hasn't taken her sunglasses off yet, making her a bit hard to read, but her stylish white one-piece and carefully maintained, white-painted nails show she clearly puts a lot of effort into how she comes off, so you have to assume it's intentional. Introductions out of the way, you settle back into an awkward silence as your opponents get close and the 8 competitors down the way start fitting the weights onto their suits, you and Maggie uneasy for the race to start, Maria almost literally bouncing with excitement, and Sarah remaining unreadable.

"Alright!" Jenna shouts, "everybody looks ready, so, let's get it on! On your marks... get set.... go!" And as the runners let their weights fall and start running, you can't help but watch. To be ready to take the weight and run, of course, not to catch any... slips. Yeah.
