The Book Maven
There she is my book maven who unknowingly has stolen my heart. Moving to the small tri borough county of Queen’s Dale in Northern Ontario, I wonder where I would find inspiration to continue my writing. My agent’s idea was to get out of the bustling metropolis of Toronto and get back to simplicity. Didn’t find inspiration, instead I found love.
After settling in I decided to take a tour of my new community all five blocks of it. In my current shape I could make it from one side to the other in a little under an hour. As i come to what they consider the main intersection of town, Wheaton Dr And Major Rd I find the biggest building I scene since leaving Toronto. Queen’s Dale Civic Centre which houses The local O.P.P. detachment, fire department and the Tri Borough Municipal Library.
Being a writer I couldn’t resist going into the library for a look around. Man talk about small the whole room was about 38 square meters in size or about the average one bedroom apartment in the downtown core of Toronto. A quick glance find four tables for people to do research on, a desk containing a computer catalogue of the book contained in the building and a typical sign in/out desk. It’s manned by the typical librarian type, over fifty, black rimmed glasses dressed in a plain brown dress covered by a white cardigan sweater.
Checking out the lending fiction books, the usual authors, King, Patterson, Steeles, Collins. The books aren’t even sorted by genre they’re just shelved by the first letter of the last name. Looking for my books Nettles, finding none of the ten I written to date. Speaking up since there was no one but us in the place “Excuse me do you have any Stan Nettles thrillers?”
Coming around and going to the computer catalogue “None sir, right now our budget isn’t large enough for all popular authors to be bought!” Returning to her post “If you would like I could look up if any are available in our neighbouring library systems!”
“No don’t go to any bother, I’ve got to drive back to Toronto next week, I’ll pick one up there!”
That when I get my first look at her, Rosemarie Clancy, 22 year old daughter of the lady I just talked too. “Mom I done returning the children books to their shelves. Can I go on my break now?” She about level with me as I turn seeing her long dark blonde hair gorgeous brown eyes. “Oh excuse me I didn’t know you were with someone!”
