You explore

You open the door into a small foyer. A furnished living room opens on one side, while a small dining room opens on the other. A set of stairs leads upwards in front of you, and a hallway extend further into the cottage. You glance quickly around, and are about to head upstairs when you hear a noise from the back of the cottage. You're about to call out, but then close your mouth, deciding to explore in silence.

Leaving your case at the foot of the stairs you slip your shoes off and carefully and silently walk down the hallway. You hear nothing further and when you reach the end of the hallway you find it opens into a kitchen, with an archway to one side and a open door to the other which seems to lead to a pantry. A window stands partially open, the curtain waving gently in the breeze. That was probably the source of the noise, you think with a shrug, turning back to get your case.
